The season 79 of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines wrapped up yesterday at the Plaza Mayor of UST, the closing ceremonies highlighted the achievements of different student athletes from different sports from the highschool and collegiate division by giving out academic scholarship awards, also the UAAP formally launched their newest CSRproject called UAAP Cares that aims to provide athletic support to schools that belongs to the poorest of the poor communities..
Another highlight of the eveneing was the giving of the Athletes of the year award that was awarded to De La Salle-Zobel tanker Nicole Pamintuan and National University volleyball player Lorence Cruz for the gighschool division, meanwhile Aldo Batungbacal of the Ateneo Swimming Team and Angelie Ursabia of the Adamson Softball team for the seniors division.
The main highlight of the evening was the turnover ceremonies from the season 79 hosts University of Santo Tomas represented by the outgoing UAAP President, Fr Ermito De Sagon to the season 80 hosts Far Eastern University that was represented by the school President Michael M. Alba. The turnover was capped off with a performance from the FEU Cheering Squad and the traditional UST grand pyromusical at the main building of the university.
