LG Call Off Mobile Phone Business

After years of being a league leader when it comes to innovation of Smartphones, Korean tech giant LG is finally pulling off the switch to their mobile phone business.

LG was once a force to recon in the smartphone market, releasing several remarkable feats in the early era of Smartphones like the first ever dual core processor phone, the LG Optimus 2x and the most recent is the Wing that features a very unusual swivel form factor.

But, what are the reasons for LG to finally closed their smartphone business?

There are several factors that might have pushed the closure of the business and first is the gradual decrease of their market share. The past decade has seen the rise of Samsung, Apple, and many Chinese phone manufacturers that offer cheaper yet premium experience to smartphone users. The likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo that has more than 50% of the smartphone market share in the past years and LG failed to compete against these companies leaving them with no choice, but to look for another way they can win their market back.

Other users pointed out the Boot loop issues in the LG G series that started out in their G3 and that really brought huge damage to the image of the company as many consumers lost confidence in their devices that it had greatly affected the next generation of devices

Here comes the era of exploration and experimenting for LG, they launched several devices that were different from the rest of the competition, just like the modular LG G5 that they pitted against Samsung's S7, they even made a more premium V series to battle the Note line of Samsung, but sadly LG weren't able to succeed as Samsung's marketing had become so rigid that they obliterate every LG devices pitted against their devices.

They even launched Smartphones that are really impressive when it comes to functionality and performance such as the LG V50 that offers a dual screen accessory that really brought an "A" game when it comes to multi tasking as it gives a 2 in 1 smartphone experience to users.

LG's decision to move away from a specs against specs type of competition and moving to an alternative and out of the box type of smartphones that sometimes sacrificed the mainstream and I guess that greatly affected them.

Months ago there are rumors that LG is releasing a rollable smartphone that will compete with the foldables of Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi. Hopefully the device will see the light of day before the mobile arm of LG formally closes down.
