The National Telecommunication Commission under the Department of Information, Communications and Technology committee has finally selected a provisional third telco player that will break the Duopoly of Smart and Globe in the Philippines.
In today's bidding process there were three companies that bid for the spot namely the Sear Telecom Consortium consist of TierOne of Chavit Singson, LCS Holdings, Fujian Torch, Miller LTE, SEATel , next is the PT&T of the Lucio Tan group.
In the process of selection the Sear telecom's First Submission Package were found incomplete by the NMP Selection Committee as it didn't have the required participation security, they were given 3 days to file for a motion for reconsideration.
PT&T or the Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corporation submitted an incomplete First Submission Package, they lacked the Certification of Technical Capability, hence they are now disqualified to proceed for the next phase of the selection process. PT&T is also given time to file for a motion.
Last on the list is the Mislatel or the Mindanao Islamic Telecom under the Udenna Company owned by Davao based business man Dennis Uy in partnership with China Telecom. Mislatel was the only bidder who passed a complete first submission package and was able to proceed in the detailed evaluation and was declared as the third telco under provision as the company will still under go Document Verification Phase.
