#NCAA91 Day 4: Chiefs Gets First Win, Altas and Kights Shared The Top Spot

In the 4th day of  action in the seniors basketball division of the NCAA. In the first game of the Friday Triple Header, the Arellano University Chiefs were able to snatch their first win this season in the expense of the Lyceum of  the Philippines University Pirates 80-78.

It was a big first half for the Chiefs ending it with a huge 51-35 lead over the Pirates, however the Pirates were able to turn things around in the 2nd half to close in to the Chiefs and almost tied the game to over time.

Jovanie Jalalon already shook off all of the opening day jitters and led the Arellano Chiefs with 20 points, adding to that is Nichols  16 points. On the side of the Lyceum Pirates, Joseph Gabayni and Shaq Alanes led the scoring with 20 points each.

Arellano is now at 1-1, while Lyceum goes 0-2.

Score:

Arellano Chiefs 80: Jalalon 20. Nichols 16, Salado 10, Meca 8, Enriquez 6, Cadavis 6, Bangga 4, Holts 4, Tano 4, Ortega 2. 

Lyceum Pirates 78: Gabayni 20, Alanes 20, Ayaay 10, Nguidjol 8, Lacastesantos 6, Mbida 5, Lugo 3, Marata 2, Taladua 2, Bulawa 2.



The Perpetual Help Altas escape past the CSB Blazers via the double-double monster performance of their Nigerian reinforcement Bright Akhuetie.

Akhuetie puts up a 44 points performance with 19 big rebounds that fueled the Altas win over the CSB Blazers 77-69, while reigning MVP Scottie Thompson added a triple-double performance of 14 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds.

On the other had JR Ongteco and Jonathan Grey teamed up for the Blazers putting up 23 and 18 points respectively. The Blazers dropped to 0-2 while the Altas are still undefeated at 2-0

UPHSD Altas: Akhuetie 44, Thompson 14, Coronel 8, Ylagan 3, Dagangon 3. 

CSB Blazers 69: Ongteco 23, Grey 18, Jonson 9, Domingo 9, Fajarito 3, Nayve 2, Castor 2, Saavedra 3, San Juan 1.


In the final game of the 4th day of the seniors basketball of the NCAA, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights defuses the heavily favored  Jose Rizal University Heavy Bomber 78-62.

It was a close game in the first half but a 17-0 run by Letran in the end of the 3rd quarter made the difference as they led JRU 63-49. In the 4th quarter JRU were not able to catch up with the defense of and offense of Letran until the end of  regulation.

Rey Nambatac top scored the knights with 25 points, while Paolo Pontejos led the heavy bombers with 11 points. Letran  is now with 2-0 record while JRU drops to 1-1.

Letran Knights 78: Nambatac 25, Racal 15, Cruz 12, Sollano 10, Quinto 6, Calvo 3, Luib 3. Apreku 2, Balanza 2. 

JRU Heavy Bombers 62: Pontejos 11, Abdul Wahab 11, Sannchez 10, Grospe 9, Dela paz 8, Lasquety 6, Balagtas 4, Teodoro 3.. 

PS: Letran's  newest team manager is non other than Cong. Manny Pacquiao, maybe that's the reason why they played very well in their game.
