#UAAP78 The Finals Game 2: UST Ties The Series

The University of Santo Tomas roars back to tie the series after beating the Far Eastern University 62-56 at the Araneta Coliseum last Saturday for the game 2 of the Finals. 

The Tamaraws started the game strong leading UST with a 20-13 lead in the first period, and then extending it to a 30-21 lead at the end of the first half, but the Growling Tigers were able to roar back in the second half after Kevin Ferrer fired 6 triples lone in the third period to take a 47-41 lead. 

FEU tried to bounce back in the fourth period keeping the game close, but the Tigers are already feeling the game 3 as they were able to stop the Tamaraws from inching closer to their score. 

Kevin Ferrer played 30 tireless minutes producing 29 big points for UST in this game, meanwhile Mac Belo and RR Pogoy scored 28 points for the Tamaraws in this game.

Angela Markado

Angela Markado is one of the hit comic series of Carlo J Caparas that was also turned into a movie in the 80 starred by Hilda Coronel and directed by Lino Brocka, this 2015 Viva Films in partnership with Oro De Siete Production films comes the remake of the classic movie starring Andi Eigenmann as Angela Markado.

Also starring in the movie are Epi Quizon, Paolo Contis, Felix Roco, Polo Ravales, and CJ Caparas as the five perpetrators of  Andi in the movie, Mika Dela Cruz, Ysabelle Peach, Bugoy Carino, Buboy Villar, Bembol Roco, Marita Zobel, and Anna Roces are also in the movie, meanwhile Bret Jackson plays the role of Andi's boyfriend in the movie.

Introducing in the movie is Zahra Bianca Zaldua, with a special participation of PAO Chief Percida Rueda-Acosta and PETA Actress Kayla Acosta. The movie is now directed by Carlo J Caparas himself and is set to premiere this coming December 2.

#UAAP78 The Finals Game 1: FEU Draw First Blood

The FEU Tamaraws draws first blood in the game one of the best of three finals against UST Growling Tigers 75-64 held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU shows dominance in this first game of the finals though the Tigers were able to start the game close even getting a 6-1 lead in the early minutes of the game, but the Tamaraws bounces back after a sloppy start to take a 28-24 lead to end the first period.

The Tamaraws took control of the second period, outscoring UST with a 19-10 output finishing the first half 47-34, FEU continues to dominate UST in the third period, though the Tigers were able to trim the lead down, but the Tamaraws were still able to end the third period with a 57-51 lead.

In the fourth period UST made an easy 6-0 run with just less than one minute to tie the ball game at 57-all, at that point the game intensifies as it becomes a seesaw battle between the two teams. Barging into the last 2 minute mark of the game the Tamaraws rages and take an 10-0 run to take a huge 71-62 advantage.

Roger Pogoy led the Tamaraws in the first half of the game, scoring all of his 15 points in the first twenty minutes, meanwhile Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo, Russell Escoto and Prince Orizu joined forces to seal the game 1 victory for FEU scoring combined 26 points in the next 20 minutes.

On the other side it was veteran Karim Abdul and Kevin Ferrer who led UST with 34 points.

#UAAP78 Day 30: UST Dethrones NU

The University of Santo Tomas ended the reign of the defending champions National University 64-55 last Sunday in their semifinals match up held at the Araneta Coliseum.

UST came prepared to end NU's luck as the latter had their worst game this season in the best time they needed it, 15-12 was the score at the end of the first period the closest the defending champs were able to get against the number one team in the league 

The Tigers showed dominance in the succeeding quarters as the Bulldogs struggles to create plays and to score, taking advantage of the sloppy offense of NU, the Tigers were able to dominate the next two quarter with the second period ending at 30-20 and the third period ending at 44-32. 

The defending champs tried to make a comeback, but fell short as UST already securing their huge lead even with the Bulldogs sorted to fouling Sheriff who missed 8 out of his 12 free throws. 

Louie Vigil shines in this win of the Tigers as he scored 19 big points to send UST back to the Finals, meanwhile on the side of the bulldogs the only bright spot was Paolo Javellona with 17 points, he was the only player on the side of NU to score in double digit.

#UAAP78 Day 29: FEU Returns To The Finals

The Far Eastern University Tamaraws proved that they are ready to take on another shot to the title as they were able to escape past the Ateneo Blue Eagles 76-74 via Mac Belo's buzzer beater put back. 

It was not an easy win for the Tamaraws, though the first 30 minutes of the game went smooth on their side as they were able to keep Ateneo at bay as the Tamaraws were able to maintain their lead until the third period. 

Entering the final ten minutes, Ateneo slowly erased the lead of the Tamaraws as rookie Adrian Wong sparked a run as he gave the lead to Ateneo 67-66 with 4:36 remaining in the game though the Tamaraws still were able to recover and answer the run of Ateneo to keep a slim lead.

In the final three minutes of the game Kiefer Ravena made a 5-0 run that gave the Blue Eagles a 74-71 lead as they already feel the victory as FEU was a bit rattled in that sequence Roger Pogoy fired a cold blooded three to tie the game with 1:07 remaining in the game  

A turnover almost cost FEU the game, but again Roger Pogoy were able to deny the drive to the basket of Adrian Wong to give Mike Tolomia the chance to drive to the basket, but he missed it with just less than 2 seconds remaining quickly Mac Belo with another buzzer beater put back that gave the Tamaraws the ticket to the FInals.

Roger Pogoy played a big role in the victory of FEU as he scored 16 points and played some crucial defensive stops against the Blue Eagles, adding to that is Mac Belo's 15 points, including his second Final Four buzzer beater game winner, while Mike Tolomia added 13 points for the Tamaraws. 

Meanwhile, on the side of Ateneo, Back to Back MVP Kiefer Ravena ended his UAAP career with a 25 point along with Von Pessumal who scored 15 points as he also played his final year in the UAAP, Rookie Adrian Wong on the other hand had a breakout game giving away 17 big points for the blue shirts.

#UAAP78 Day 28: UE Finish Season With A Bang, FEU Enters The Final Four Troumphant

After falling short in forcing a rubber match to enter the final four, the University of the East Red Warriors still were able to end the season on a high note after defeating the University of the Philippines 79-67. 

The first period went tight for both squad with UP getting a single point advantage at the end of the quarter 17-18, but suddenly in the second period the Red Warriors became more aggressive and started to pull away though UP were still able to tie the game at 28 all the Red Warriors were able to pull off a 9-0 run to end the first half 37-28. 

In the second half UE was able to maintain a double digit lead over the Fighting Maroons, though the latter were still able to fight back, UE still manage to finish the third period on top with a huge 61-47 lead. In the fourth period the Fighting Maroons tried to make a comeback, but to no avail red hot UE was just in control of the game as they wanted to finish strong. 

Clark Derige again topped the scoring for the UE Red Warriors with 18 points, adding to that is Paul Varilla's 14 and Chris Javier's 13 points, meanwhile on the side of the UP FIghting Maroons it was all Paul Desiderio as he poured in 26 points, adding to that is Henry Asilum's 12 points.

In the second game, though it was no longer a bearing game for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, they were still able to stage a huge comeback to oust the De La Salle University Green Archers 71-68. 

It was a tight start for both squad with FEU getting the lead to end the first period 22-19, coming in to the second period the Green Archers were able to turn things around to take the lead on their side and pull away to end the first half in top 38-29.

In the third period La Salle were able to take a 12-5 run to extend the lead to 52-37, but the Tamaraws still holding on to the game were able to cut the deficit down to a 45-54 lead at the end of the third period. 

Entering the fourth period La Salle already smelling blood in the water as they were able to extend their lead 57-45 with the Tamaraws still not showing any aggressiveness inside the court, at that point many thought that FEU will give away the win since the game is already a non bearing game for the Tamaraws. 

But entering the 6 minute mark of the game the Tamaraws started to come alive and slowly but surely erased the lead of La Salle after Roger Pogoy that is fresh from the bench poured in 11 straight points for the Tamaraws to get  63-61 lead over La Salle. The Green Archers tried to snatch the lead back as they were still able to keep the game close at 69-68 after a Jeron Teng drive to the basket with a 7.0 seconds remaining.   

Monbert Arong stars for the Tamaraws as he led them with 13 points, adding to that is Roger Pogoy's 11 points that all came in the fourth period. On the other hand Jeron Teng and Prince Rivero combined 36 points for the Green Archers as they fell short in forcing a rubber match against the NU Bulldogs.
