Love at First Stream tells the story of 4 teenagers who uses the internet to escape from their realities, explore friendships, and eventually find love. This film is Cathy-Garcia Molina's comeback movie after almost two years of hiatus after her almost 2 billion pesos hit movies Hello Love Goodbye and The Hows of Us. The movie stars Jeremiah Lisbo, Kaori Oinuma, Anthony Jennings and Daniela Stranner.
What this film surprises the audiences is the acting capabilities of Daniela Stanner as she portrays Vilma, a desperate vlogger who is willing to do anything just so she can reach her dreams of earning more. Daniela really did a tremendous job of bringing Vilma’s life into the big screen. As from a first time who did not know nor have watched Daniela from any shows or contents before, her portrayal of Vilma is naturally moving and truly exceptional. She threw heavy and important lines with such power. On the other hand, Kaori Oinuma, Anthony Jennings and Jeremiah Lisbo all did a fair job of playing each of their characters but indeed, Daniela Stranner shined the most in this ensemble.
Story wise, Love at First Stream is not the first of its kind. They are a lot of existing stories that tackles online friendships and relationships, but what makes this film apart from its kind is on how it is executed. Cathy-Garcia Molina is genuinely a creative director for how she had narrated a common tale like this with such innovation. The film also tackles the role of social media in establishing a relationship which is hugely timely and relevant in this modern age.
We should really give Love at First Stream a chance for it is an eye opener for every single individual who are greatly dependent on the internet.
