Last Saturday reigning Miss Earth 2015 Anglia Ong crowned her successor and it was non other than early favorite candidate from Puerto Princesa City Imelda Schweighart. The 21 year old Art Theatre Student bested 45 other candidates in the pageant, here are her advocacy:
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
1. Soil Protection from chemically engineered seeds.2. I truly believe that without our farmers, our mass population will starve. I suggest infrastructures which could conserve the natural resources we have and stop others from cutting.
down our trees that took decades to grow in provincial areas where our nature is depleting. I believe in providing livelihood to the poor, shelter and education regarding organic farming.
3. I would like to raise awareness to minimize our pollution through biking. It's good for the health and it will teach us the true value of living in harmony with each other.
These are my advocacies because of my love and compassion for the voiceless and the poor. At the same time I am contributing ideas needed for our country's protection of God's gift to us, the caretakers of the environment.
Our consumption as human beings should be throughly safe.
Imelda will try to go for a Three-peat in Miss Earth as she competes in South Korea this October.
