Rebisco is Platinum Sponsor of PNVF Champions League

Rebisco, a staunch supporter of Philippine volleyball from the grassroots, campus, professional and national levels, is going all out for the Philippine National Volleyball Federation’s volleyball tournament this November.

The snacks and biscuits company is the Platinum Sponsor of the Champions League, the first national league ever organized in volleyball with men’s and women’s events.

The men’s and women’s volleyball event will take place from November 20 to 25 for the women’s division and from November 29 to December 4 for the men’s division.

Rebisco’s professional volleyball teams, the Creamline Cool Smashers and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, will not participate in the event. Rebisco team managers Alan Acero for Creamline and Rolando Delfino for Choco Mucho said the two teams were given time to rest and recharge, mentally and physically, and for them to reconnect with family after their very hectic training and playing schedule since April this year.

“We commend the PNVF for this competition that brings together the country’s top caliber teams, not just from the PVL but from the regions as well. Metro Manila teams will be competing with provincial volleyball teams and is a big step in our common dream to grow the sport. Next year the PNVF intends to welcome more teams across the country as well. We at Rebisco are happy that our national volleyball program is moving in the right direction,” said Noric Ng, Business Unit Head of Rebisco.

FDCP Fully Vaccinates 5,000+ Film & Entertainment Workers through its #GoodJab Vax Program

A total of 5,102 film and audiovisual workers have been fully vaccinated under the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ (FDCP) #GoodJab Vaccination Program in partnership with the Quezon City (QC) and Manila City Government.

The third and last batch to complete the inoculation of 3,500 workers under the City of Manila’s “Vaccine Nation is the Solution” Program, received their second doses at Adamson University on October 18. The second dose vaccination program that started on September 29 is also part of the final activities of last month’s Philippine Film Industry Month.

In this collaboration with the City of Manila Health Department with Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, the FDCP National Registry (NR) successfully carried out the vaccination of 3,500 film and AV workers. FDCP’s #GoodJAB and Manila’s “Vaccine Nation is the Solution” are supported by SIP Purified Water.

Last June, the 1,500 FDCP-registered film workers were vaccinated in the “Bakuna Nights para sa Film at Entertainment Workers” of the FDCP and QC Government through the #QCProtekTODO program at the Quezon City Hall Vaccination Site.

“With the recent developments, including our fully vaccinated film workers, things are looking up for the local film industry. This will not be possible without the help of our stakeholders who believe in the importance of our film workers’ safety especially in these trying times. Many thanks to Mayor Isko Moreno, Mayor Joy Belmonte, and their vaccination teams, as well as FDCP’s National Registry team and FDCP employees who volunteered and provided full assistance,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño.

The 5,102 vaccinated workers are all FDCP NR registrants. The national film agency compiled and submitted the list of National Registry for Audiovisual Workers (NRAW)  registrants with their information and required documents to the City of Manila and Quezon City.

TikTok Releases 'Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari', the First Original Song Composed by a Creator on the Platform

The love song is a collaboration between rising R&B Artist Steven Peregrina and songwriter, Kaya.

First heard on TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, the song "Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari" will soon be available for audiences around the world to enjoy. TikTok recently discovered the song, which was composed by 20-year old songwriter, Kaya, and enlisted emerging R&B and Hip Hop star, Steven Peregrina, to provide the vocals for the track.

Earlier this year, Kaya shared a snippet of this original song on her TikTok account, and the video gained almost one million views, organically, on the platform. The romantic ballad accurately depicts what it means to fall in love, with lyrics that speak about wanting to slow dance with the person you hold dear.

The full track will be released this October, featuring Steven Peregrina on vocals. Quickly gaining popularity among listeners and fellow artists around the globe, Steven was also recently tapped by 88rising, a global music force of this generation, to be part of their second EP, Semilucent 2, through their Philippine-based label, Paradise Rising.

A springboard for songs and artists, TikTok provides a fresh platform for emerging and established musicians alike to reach new fans. As such, TikTok collaborates with songwriters and artists on the platform and enables them to release their songs professionally, reach a wider audience, and gain recognition in the music industry. By providing budding new artists a space where they can freely and creatively express themselves through their music, TikTok hopes to inspire more users to create, and also contribute to the local music scene.

"Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari" was pre-released on TikTok last October 15, 2021, and the official release of the full song across all streaming platforms will be on October 22nd. A lyric video will also be released together with the full song on October 22, 2021.

Dreams Do Come True: Gloc-9 and Aspiring Singer Collabs to Fulfill Life Goals

With the uncertainty of the times, it's good to plan ahead to ensure a decent future and it was with God's grace that our Favorite Makata crossed paths with the husband and wife tandem of Grace and Louie Cristobal, owners of Alkaviva Waters Philippines. Not only did Gloc-9 gain new friends and business partners, it also provided him a new inspiration for a new song and an opportunity to help someone fulfill a lifelong dream.

"Maulit Man" was penned based on the  incredible love story of the Cristobal’s who faced seemingly insurmountable odds as a family and surviving life's curve balls founded on the strength of their love.

With Gloc-9 celebrating his birthday this October, "Maulit Man" will likewise be his natal day single. But what makes this song extra special was the vocal participation of PECEngr. Marie Grace Quintero Cristobal.

Google Pixel 6: Unlocking More Possibilities to Adapt to You.

After months of non stop leaks finally we are able to meet the newest Pixel phones from Google. In a one hour Pixel Fall Launch that happened virtually on YouTube the Google pixel 6 and 6 Pro were finally introduced along with the newest chipset the Google Tensor chip.

What's New?

Well everything is new for the 6th generation of the Pixel Phone, from hardware to software everything has a new flavor to offer.

From the design which is quite a bit unconventional specially the huge camera bump that houses a new set of camera sensors that promises to deliver the best camera experience not only to photos, but as well as the videos.

The Pixel 6 also adapts a new chipset, the Google Tensor chip that is made by google for google.

Design and Built:

The Pixel 6 features a 6.4 inch 1080p AMOLED display with 90hz screen refresh rate, while the Pixel 6 pro comes with a bigger 6.7 inch 1440p LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz screen refresh rate.

Both Pixels are covered with Gorilla Glass Victus, the Pixel 6 Pro is a little bit curved on the edge of the screen while the Pixel 6 got a flatter corners.

The 6 pro is powered by a 5000mAh Battery, while the 6 comes with a 4600mAh. This is definitely a huge leap when it comes to battery size.

The Pixel 6 comes in these cute pastel colors named Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral, and Stormy Black and comes in 8GB RAM and 128/256GB that is priced at $599.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 6 Pro comes in Cloudy White, Sorta Sunny, and Stormy Black, it has a bigger 12GB RAM and. 128/256GB memory that is priced at $899.

Introducing The Tensor.

For the longest time, Google has been using Qualcomm's Snapdragon Chipset. Ever since the Nexus line they have been very loyal to it, but the wind of change blew and Google has made their own chipset which is the Tensor Chip.

Google Tensor promises to unlock many possibilities with the Google Pixel 6 and it starts with security and software updates.

From the 2-3 years of update, the Google Pixel 6 is expected to get up to 5 years of Security update and most probably it will get software updates up until Android 16 atleast.

The Tensor also makes the Pixel 6 the smartest Pixel to date as it improves the AI feature of the phone for a more accurate voice typing experience and even translation with the enhanced Live Translate feature.

Pixel Camera.

When it comes to camera hardware, the Pixel 6 pro got a huge advantage over the 6 model as the latter features a 4x zoom camera that sits infront of the bigger 48MP sensor that features a "Super Res Zoom" that allows you to take photos upto 20x zoom and promises that it will be still clear.

The two Pixel phones shares the same 50MP Camera with a 1,/1.3-inch Samsung GN1 sensor with a 12.5mp camera and a 12mp ultra wide camera.

The Samsung GN1 Sensor was a big improvement as it captures more light for better Astrophotography and night sight.

The Pixel Camera is now said to be able to record high resolution videos up to 4k 60fps thanks to the new Tensor chip of Google.

New features such as Magic Eraser, Motion Mode, and Face Unblur are ready to give Pixel 6 users a whole new experience.

But the one that caught my attention is the Real Tone feature that aims for inclusivity, Equitability, and Accuracy to the photos they are taking.

Over all the Google Pixel 6 line did not disappoint this time as they gave it all in their new products, by the way the Pixel 6 and 6 pro will be both available on October 28.

TECNO Mobile Introduces New Brand Slogan ‘Stop At Nothing’

Premium smartphone brand, TECNO Mobile, recently launched its new brand slogan, Stop At Nothing, along with a brand video and a brand campaign hashtagged #StopAtNothing, which pays tribute to all those who continue to push forward, against all odds. #StopAtNothing represents TECNO’s recognition of human progress and people’s pursuit for purpose, potential and excellence.

#StopAtNothing is TECNO’s next step in delivering on a promise of unlocking the best of contemporary smartphone technologies and making it accessible for global emerging markets.

TECNO’s brand campaign celebrates “progressive mavericks” and those “young at heart”, the youth who admirably stayed resilient in the face of adversity.

“We’ve seen how resilient and progressive society can be in the face of adversity, especially among young adults in emerging markets. No matter where you come from or what you physically look like or which gender you belong to, people will “stop at nothing” to progress and find creative and disruptive ways to achieve their potential. In return, they find themselves on a joyous and exciting journey,” says Danni Xu, CMO of TECNO. “And this attitude and spirit resonates so strongly with TECNO that we were compelled to embrace it and position it at the very core of who we are and what we do as a technology brand.”

The campaign, which was launched in Africa last August, features several above-the-line elements including a 60-second global brand video that demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit. It is supported by a strategic execution of digital, social and PR tactics emanating from representative markets, including the Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, India, Turkey, and Russia.

#StopAtNothing is so much more than another brand campaign,” says Xu. “It represents the values and the attitude that we as a brand embrace, and TECNO’s role in providing the technology they need to progress even further.”

Xu concludes: “#StopAtNothing not only inspires, but it also cements TECNO’s total commitment to supporting our consumers with innovative and elegant technology solutions that act as an enabler of progression.”

TECNO Mobile’s goal is to become the most admired tech brand in the world, and continue making breakthroughs in product and experience innovations.

Earlier this year, TECNO announced its latest “superpower” – securing Chris Evans, an A-list Hollywood celebrity, as its worldwide brand ambassador. This signing has intensified TECNO’s determination to be recognised as a leader in global emerging markets.

As the brand continues to grow on the world stage, TECNO now finds itself competing with major mainstream brands, who, undoubtedly, will sit up and take note of TECNO’s “super-heroic” manoeuvre.

TECNO’s Filipino consumers can soon look forward to a brand new smartphone with anti-shake function from the brand, CAMON 18 Premier. With this smartphone, TECNO makes it possible for everyone to experience mobile technological innovations that can help improve the way they work, learn, play, and live, at a fraction of the price offered by other brands. With this latest offering, TECNO Mobile stays true to its commitment to bring innovation to global emerging markets, as the premium smartphone brand for all.

The Rise and Rise of TECNO

Premium smartphone brand, TECNO Mobile, may still be a new brand globally, but with its growth focused in global emerging markets, TECNO has quickly gained a reputation as a challenger brand to watch out for. And it has no plans to change tact now.

Glocal approach

In the Philippines, the rise of TECNO Mobile may be greatly attributed to its affordable smartphone portfolio, along with its deep understanding of the needs of its consumers. This aligns perfectly with TECNO’s ethos, which is rooted in a business strategy called “glocalization,” which means the creation of products that will sell universally, but can be customized to suit specific markets or regions.

“This has helped TECNO grow into one of the most admired smartphone brands, as well as an expert in providing industrial-leading technology and innovative devices designed for global users in emerging markets,” explains Stephen Ha, General Manager at TECNO.

Today, TECNO's product line is greatly enriched by its quad core smartphone product lines, and diverse AIoT products, providing consumers with high-quality middle and high-end smart devices.

“We offer a very competitive price, enabling our customers to always stay connected to the world and enjoy a fashionable way of life. Unlike many international brands, TECNO focuses on users in emerging markets, and creatively combines global technology with the actual needs of local consumers, bringing them cutting-edge technology with localized innovation and differentiated features. This kind of innovation is in our DNA,” adds Ha.

In 2021, TECNO plans to leap further forward with the hope of stabilizing its foothold in more emerging markets. “To further expand our brand popularity, we aim to play a more significant role in the mid-to-high end market segment. We will do this by actively combining international-level partnerships to create our global brand image, while also utilizing diverse and innovative branding activities to serve a growing number of young consumers.”

Joining the premium smartphone space, TECNO’s brand mission is to become the most admired tech brand in the global emerging markets by continually making breakthroughs in product innovation. As TECNO continues to play a more significant role in the mid-to-high end market segment, it will cultivate its market position by bringing with it premium smart devices and services-based offerings, and lead with a customer-oriented innovation mindset.

“The mid-to-high-end smartphone market has become more mature today, and market demand has spread rapidly to global emerging markets. We are eager to push the competition into new boundaries to make flagship technology and innovation available to consumers in global emerging markets sooner,” adds Ha.

TECNO plays a crucial role post-pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges both for industry and society, however, TECNO knows that every challenge brings with it an opportunity. “During this period, we kept the communication lines with our global partners open. We stood alongside our consumers to help them overcome challenges. We’ve always been the brand that pushes past limitations,” says Ha.

TECNO gave back to communities. They implemented fast-response measures to support local communities in time of outburst events such as COVID19. “We rolled out a range of initiatives to provide prevention measures, materials and educational and economical support that aims to help local communities to maintain their safety and wellbeing for everyday life.”

TECNO successfully completed its first CSR campaign in the Philippines this year, partnering with beneficiaries who are all pillars of the community - Project Malasakit, a scholarship project; the City of Manila through the Office of Mayor Isko Moreno; and Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish in Payatas. Each partner beneficiary received smartphones and cash, which were awarded to their local “heroes of the pandemic” for their unwavering service, and to dedicated and promising students from their community.

Scholars received their TECNO Mobile during the #CtheBestOfYou donation handover last August.

But more than taking its social responsibility to heart, TECNO is all about knowing what the customer needs, and this philosophy is at the very center of everything they do. “We are at the forefront of meeting neglected market demands by developing elegantly designed smart tech devices and services for our consumers across more than 70 global emerging markets. We want to provide consumers with a comprehensive range of high-quality products and services at competitive prices, from smartphones, tablets, smart wearables to AIoT devices,” says Ha.

As TECNO readies itself to take on the world by storm, the brand recognizes the role that it plays in society.

“We are investing more around digitalization to drive a positive impact on the business ecosystem, consumers as well as social development. For example, we held the first global AR launch event for the CAMON 16 series in 2020; we witnessed the rise of the short-video social trend, and launched the very first documentary looking at the “rise of selfie”, calling out for the public to employ devices in a positive way. We are also investing more in e-commerce to bring better convenience to consumers,” concludes Ha.

One can clearly see why TECNO is on the up and up.

Filipino consumers can soon look forward to a brand new smartphone with anti-shake function from TECNO Mobile, CAMON 18 Premier. With this smartphone, TECNO makes it possible for everyone to experience mobile technological innovations that can improve the way they work, learn, play, and live, at a fraction of the price offered by other brands. With this latest offering, TECNO Mobile stays true to its commitment to bring innovation to global emerging markets, as the premium smartphone brand for all.

Vaughn Piczon: Cruising Through The Stars

Love Beneath The Stars had just wrapped up last month, after a roller coaster 6 episodes of the sequel series of the 2020 MMFF hit movie "Boy Foretold By the Stars", finally Luke and Dominic played by Keann Johnson and Adrian Lindayag were able to endure the challenges that they had to face in the series and reach a happy ending for them.

But there's this one character that really did put a spice on their story and he is Gio, the President of the Student body and Dominic's childhood bestfriend. I will be honest here, if not for him I wouldn't be that hooked to the series and I think his character deserves more. But who is Gio in real life?

Our guy for this month of October is Gio of the series Love Beneath The Stars played by Vaughn Piczon.

Vaughn started out his acting career way back in college, he was a member of the FEU Theater Guild until he graduated with a degree in Mass Communication in 2014. But things didn't go the way Vaughn wanted as opportunities in the entertainment scene became elusive for him he decided to shift his plans a little bit.

He shared that he was actually a late bloomer when it comes to acting, he just fell in love with the craft when he entered FEU's theater guild. He was inspired by Broadway musicals he listens to when he was en route to Manila for college, he just found himself loving these musicals and he thought of it as an interesting path.

As opportunities in theater became difficult to find, he found himself a bit frustrated seeing fellow FEU Theater Guild artists making it big in showbiz, Vaughn found himself at that point where he is torn between pushing forward of his dream to make it big in showbiz and sidelining it and choose the option to work in a cruise ship and he chose the latter and for almost three years he worked there as a performer and a host, he said that it was the closest he can be with his passion and craft and for him it was hitting two birds with one stone, he was able to provide for his family and still was able to enjoy the perks of his work.

But after a long time in the cruise, Vaughn felt that he isn't growing as a person and as a performer, he somewhat felt tired of doing the same routines for almost three years, he wanted to try something new or at least try to go back to his first love which is acting. He shared that he even asked for a sign if he will resign in the cruise or he will stay and the sign that he asked was for his sister to get a scholarship grant for college and from there the stars aligned and his sister got in to the scholarship program and Vaughn went home and tried his luck again.

He went home late 2019, but pandemic struck and showbiz was greatly affected by it, but the stars aligned for him once more as he was tipped by his friend Yesh Burce to audition for the role of Gio for Love Beneath The Stars and luckily he was chosen for the role and the rest was history.

Transitioning from Theater to TV was a little bit tricky for Vaughn, as there's a huge difference between the two specially when it comes to how actors play and move and it he admitted that he adjusted big time from the stage to camera, thanks to his director, Direk Dolly, he was able to adapt to his new medium and he was able to portray the role of Gio perfectly.

Vaughn's take away in his journey towards his dream was if it is meant for you, it is meant for you. You just need to work hard and wait for the right and perfect timing, as to what they say God always has that perfect timing, there might be delays, but just trust the process and everything will be worth the wait.

After Love Beneath The Stars, Vaughn is set to be part of the teleserye "Love in 40 Days" from Dreamscape, he will star along with Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio, the new serye is set to start it's production early 2022.

Circle of Bones: All Star Filipino Film Gets US Theatrical Release in 10 Major Cities

Circle of Bones, an independent horror/action film written and directed by award-winning Filipino filmmaker Vincent Soberano is showing in US theaters starting October 22, 2021 in ten major cities.

Released by Vertical Entertainment and represented by Safier Entertainment, it is produced by IndieGo Pictures Entertainment in cooperation with CMB Films and Blackburst Studios.

The movie is in Tagalog and English language and was filmed in Panglao, Bohol and Cainta, Rizal.

“Circle of Bones” is based on Vincent Soberano’s unpublished book, “Yawa” - a tale of local superstitions and modern-day urban legends of the Visayas region. Set in the picturesque island of Panglao, Bohol, the story is told by a lone survivor of a mysterious cult suspected of mass murders and human sacrifices.

Soberano recounts how the story was developed while he was on location hunting for a different film. “I get my inspiration for stories usually in the most unexpected ways,” he recalls. “I was location-hunting for another movie and I stumbled into a cult temple in Bohol. Curious, I started asking around and based on stories from the locals, I came up with the new plot for Circle of Bones.”

Hollywood action star Sarah Chang rounds up the cast with Filipino stars Jana Victoria, Marela Torre, Ian Ignacio and Epy Quizon, with a cameo of the iconic Joel Torre.

“This movie is uniquely Filipino and features sights and stories never before seen by the US audience,” says Jared Safier, one of the executive producers and a 4-time Emmy Award winning producer. “I’m confident it will do well in the US market, both theatrically and on streaming platforms.”

This is the first time a Filipino movie has been released theatrically in the United States, Canada and the UK by Vertical Entertainment, a top-ranked film distribution company based in Santa Monica, California, and founded by producers Richard B. "Rich" Goldberg and Mitch Budin in 2012.

Following its theatrical release, the film will also be released on VOD, on platforms such as Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV, etc.

“Having a Filipino-made, independent genre film get a theatrical release throughout the U.S. is a huge achievement for me,” director Vincent Soberano says. “It gives me great pride as a Filipino filmmaker that I’ve gotten this far to represent Filipino films in the U.S. mainstream market. Next step, worldwide distribution!”

Indeed, under the brokerage of Safier Entertainment, “Circle of Bones” is poised for worldwide distribution after its North America and UK releases.
