#UAAP82 Juniors Day 7: Baby Tamaraws made it 6-1 after trouncing gritty Adamson

The Far Eastern University-FERN Baby Tamaraws made it 6-1 at the end of the first round after they put up another valiant performance over the gritty Baby Falcons 89-81. 

The Baby Tams despite a slow start manage to keep things close in the first half of the game, finishing it down 36-38, but going to the second half the Baby Tams were able to storm their way to the top with a 32-18 third quarter out put to take over the lead by as much as 15 points in the second half. 

Penny Estacio once again took charge on the latter part of the game as he scored most of his 23 points in the second half, meanwhile team captain Cholo Anonuevo finally had his break out game after leading the Baby Tams with 21 points. 

Vincent Saldua also had a breakout game with 13 pointd, Jorick Bautista added 12 points, while John Pasaol had 10 points. 

The Baby Tams ends the year and the first round in solo second. 

#SEAGames2019 Day 1: Team Pilipinas Umarangkada sa Unang araw ng SEA Games

Umarangkada na nga ang ika-30 na South East Asian Games dito sa Pilipinas, nagbukas ang palaro noong Sabado, sa Philippine Arena sa Bulacan kung saan itinampok ang kultura at galing nating mga Pilipino, halos limang libong delegado mula sa rehiyon. Pilipinas ang may pinaka maraming kalahok na deligado na aabot sa mahigit isang libong atleta, ang pagbubukas ay pinangunahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte at ng mga kinatawan ng PHISGOC. 

Sa unang araw ng opisyal na pagbubukas ng SEA Games ay kumamada agad ng 23 na gintong medalya ang Pilipinas, ang unang gintong medalya ay nagmula kay John Chicano sa Men's Triathlon na sinundan naman ni Kim Mangrobang mula naman sa Women's division ng Triathlon. 

Wagi din ng Gold Medal ang mga atleta natin mula sa Wushu na si Agatha Wong para sa Taijiquan event, sa Chess wagi din si Jan Emmanuel Garcia para sa Individual Online Chess. Si Estie Gay Liwanen naman ay nagdagdag din ng isa pang ginto mula naman sa larong Kurash, at ang World Champion naman na si Carlos Yulo ay nagpakitang gilas agad sa Gymnastics matapos nyang makuha ang ginto sa Men's All Around category.

Dalawang Gintong medalya naman ang naitala ng Men's at Women's Hoop Team sa larong Sepak Takraw. Samantala, limang Gintong medalya naman ang naiambag ng Arnis Team matapos magtagumpay sina Dexter Blambao, Villardo Cunamay, Nino Mark Talledo, Mike Banare, at Jezebel Morcillo sa kani kaniyang categorya. 

Ang pinaka maraming gintong nakamit ang Pilipinas ay sa Dance Sport, Sampung Gintong medalya ang nakuha ng Dance Sport team, tatlo mula kina Sean Mischa Aranar at Ana Leonila Nualla para sa Vienesse Waltz, Tango at Standard Over All, tatlo din ang nakuha nina Wilbert Aunzo at Pearl Caneda mula sa Rhumba, Samba, at Cha-cha. 

Tig dalawang medlayang ginto naman ang naitala nina Mark Jayson Gayon at Mary Joy Renigen mula sa Waltz at Foxtrot, habang sina Michael Angelo Marquez at Stephanie Sabalo ay nakakuha ng ginto mula sa Pasa Doble at Latin Over All. 

Ang Pilipinas ay nakapagtala din ng labindalawang pilak na medalya at siyam na tansong medalya sa kabuang 44 medals para sa unang araw ng palaro. 

#UAAP82 Juniors Day 6: Baby Tams puts up dominant win over Junior Archers.

The Far Eastern University Baby Tamaraws cemented their hold in the solo second spot after they beat down the DLSZ Junior Archers, 80-63.

The Baby Tams had a fiery start in this game, but the Junior Archers were still able to get the better of the opening period with a 18-16 advantage, but FEU surged back in the second period with a 26-12 run to take the lead back 42-30.

Penny Estacio and Jorick Bautista teamed up for the Baby Tams after scoring 16 and 15 points respectively, Patrick Sleat added 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Cholo Anonuevo had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Gerald Santos headlines UNLIMITED, A CONCERT FOR A CAUSE”

International stage actor and Pinoy Pride bearer Gerald Santos headlines in one of the biggest concerts for this year, UNLIMITED, A CONCERT FOR A CAUSE, which is slated on December 13, 2019, 8PM at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. 

An initial concert offering of LE’ POSH Entertainment Production, this concert endeavor is a coming together of world class Filipino artists who all have a soft spot for the plight and welfare of our OFWs and their loved ones.

Santos avers, “I was an OFW myself. Being in UK for 2 years as part of the Miss Saigon UK Tour stint made me realize how our kababayans, the feelings and sentiments of the many OFWs I had the opportunity to intermingle with. I know how difficult it is to be away from your family and with this concert, it is my prayer that it  brings cheers to the OFWs who are home during the holiday season and their families who will join and watch it.”

Joining Gerald on the concert stage are OPM icon Nyoy Volante, fast-rising star Kyline Alcantara, Singaporean theatre veteran Rachel Chan, The Clash Finalist Garret Bolden and Rock Legend Jett Pangan.

LE’POSH Entertainment Production teams up with other government and non-government agencies for this concert to alleviate the plight of our OFWs.

The concert is written and directed by Antonino Rommel Ramilo, with concept by Pierre Hernandez. Musical director is Jason Abram Cabato.

FDCP, FAP commend film industry members in Luna Awards Nominee's night

FDCP, FAP COMMEND FILM INDUSTRY MEMBERS IN LUNA AWARDS NOMINEES’ NIGHT

The 37th Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Luna Awards is an award-giving body like no other in the country. It is a standout in the industry because it is by the peers and for the peers. Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño explained, "It’s really actresses voting for Best Actress, editors voting for the nominees for Best Editing, cinematographers voting for Best Cinematography. It is the counterpart of the Oscars in the U.S." 

What makes the voting process of the 2019 FAP Luna Awards more special is that its Voters are all past nominees and winners of the FAP Luna Awards and other distinguished award-giving bodies. Its Electoral College is composed of active film workers in the industry with Citers, Nominators, and Voters comprising the entire body. FDCP and FAP have engaged such film workers to vote for and recognize this year’s esteemed nominees. Because of this reputable peer voting process, receiving a nomination from the FAP Luna Awards is truly an honor already. Hence, the FAP Luna Awards Nominees’ Night was held to celebrate the excellent work of the nominees for this year.

Nominees, guests, and members of the press flocked to Delgado.112 restaurant in the Tomas Morato area of Quezon City for the November 20 gathering. Diño and FAP Director-General Vivian Velez warmly welcomed the FAP Luna Awards Nominees such as Chito Roño (Signal Rock), Kip Oebanda (Liway), and Dwein Baltazar (Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus) for Best Director; Nicco Manalo (Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus) for Best Actor and Glaiza de Castro (Liway) for Best Actress; Soliman Cruz (Liway), Epy Quizon (Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral), and Mon Confiado (Signal Rock) for Best Supporting Actor; and Nova Villa (Miss Granny) and Max Collins (Citizen Jake) for Best Supporting Actress.

Other nominees in attendance were Emerzon Texon (Meet Me in St. Gallen and Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi) for Best Musical Score; Chuck Gutierrez (Liway) and Edlyn Tallada-Abuel (Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes, with Maynard Pattaui) for Best Editing; Axel Fernandez (Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus) for Best Sound; Aped Santos (Liway) and Michael Español (Buy Bust, with Roma Regala) for Best Production Design; and Rodolfo Vera, represented by actress Elora Españo, (Signal Rock and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, with Jerrold Tarog) for Best Screenplay. TBA Studios President Vincent “Ting” Nebrida also graced the event as “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” of TBA and Globe Studios was nominated for Best Picture. Roño’s CSR Productions was also nominated for Best Picture for “Signal Rock.”

During the FAP Luna Awards Nominees’ Night, Diño marveled at how the event was well-attended, noting, “Gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa inyong lahat kasi nagdatingan po kayong lahat dito. Salamat po. Grabe!” A professional chef herself, Diño even prepared pork adobo and Cajun shrimp for all attendees of the Nominees’ Night. Velez, for her part, stated: “We want to thank the nominees that are here. And sana sa November 30, sana naman ‘yung mga nominees will support us kasi ‘yun po ang gusto namin na masuportahan po sana ‘yung activities ng FDCP at FAP.” The 37th FAP Luna Awards Night will take place on November 30, Saturday, at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City.

The FDCP Chair turned emotional as she recalled the low turnout of nominees in various awarding events in recent years. “We’re celebrating our One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema. At hindi po natitinag ang lahat ng award-giving bodies natin para bigyan ng suporta at recognition ang lahat, from the people behind the camera to the people in front of the camera. Let’s support these events because we mount these events not for ourselves. We mount these events for you. And I hope that on November 30, all our 60 nominees can make it to the 37th FAP Luna Awards,” Diño stated.

The nominees were then formally presented to the members of the press. Veteran actress Villa reacted, “Eto na naman ako, pang ilang nomination na ng Miss Granny. Bakit ang tagal, bakit ang dami? Talaga sigurong napakaganda nung pelikula na ‘yun. At salamat. Thank you, Lord. And probably, itong mga nominations na ito, I could have done probably really good. I hope marami pang awards.” Villa, whose bubbly personality gleamed at the Nominees’ Night, is not just a nominee this year. She is also among the Special Awardees who will receive the Manuel de Leon Award for Exemplary Achievement on November 30. When Diño asked for her reaction to her Special Award, Villa jested: “May edad na. Isipin ninyo naabutan ko pa si Pugo at Togo, and Patsy at Chichay?” She shared that she starred in the first movie of LEA Productions titled “Manananggal vs. Mangkukulam” where Patsy and Pugo were her parents. “So, ano, ilang taon na ako ngayon? Pero labanan ko pa kayo sa takbuhan," she joked.

Meanwhile, the Best Director Nominees expressed their sentiments as well. Roño of nine-time Luna nominee "Signal Rock" uttered, “Maraming salamat sa recognition ng FAP at FDCP. I'm glad to be here,” while Baltazar of “Gusto Kita With All My Hypothalamus” remarked, “Sobrang excited po ako every time napapasali kami sa ganito.” Kip Oebanda, who is also nominated for Best Screenplay together with Zig Dulay for “Liway,” shared how flattered and honored he is to be nominated. "It’s the hundredth year of Philippine Cinema, and we're just very proud to be part of this industry. We're proud to be filmmakers, directors, and writers. We dedicate this to all the people who have worked behind the scenes. At napakahirap gumawa ng pelikula. It's a miracle that any film gets completed. So to be recognized for that is such a blessing," Oebanda added.

Best Actress Nominee Glaiza de Castro

Best Actor Nominee Manalo also expressed his gratitude and confirmed his Awards Night attendance when he said, "Magkita-kita po tayo sa Luna Awards.” Best Actress Nominee Glaiza de Castro, who came with boyfriend David Rainey, thanked FDCP and FAP for the recognition. She also shared how happy and surprised she was when "Liway" bagged nine nominations. “Masaya akong makita ulit 'yung mga nakatrabaho ko sa 'Liway.' Masaya akong ma-nominate kasama ang mahuhusay na aktor, kasama ang kaibigan kong si Angelica Panganiban.” As for Best Supporting Actress Nominee Max Collins, she noted, “On behalf of Direk Mike de Leon and Citizen Jake, I'm just very proud to be here, and I'm honored.” Collins attended the event with husband, actor Pancho Magno.

FDCP and FAP are co-organizers of the 37th FAP Luna Awards. The strictly invitational Awards Night on November 30 will be shown via livestream on the Facebook page of FDCP with the username Film Development Council of the Philippines.

#UAAP82 Juniors Day 5: Baby Tams edges Tiger Cubs, solidifies #2 spot.

The FEU Baby Tamaraws solidifies their hold in the #2 spot after they survived the late run of the UST Tiger Cubs, 80-73.

The Baby Tams were able to post a solid first half performance with a 21-19 opening quarter output up to a 46-37 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Baby Tams continues to hold a comfortable deficit the Tiger Cubs were able to cut it down to 65-59, they even made it as close as 72-70 late in the final period, but Penny Estacio made a quick work that brought the cushion back on FEU's side to hold off UST.

Pennys Estacio once again led the charge for the Baby Tams with 21 points, Jorick Bautista added 19 points, while Patrick Sleat contributed 15 points in this 4th victory of the Baby Tamaraws.

#UAAP82 Juniors Day 4: Baby Tams completes comeback against Junior Maroons to take 3rd win.

The FEU-FERN Baby Tams shrugged off a cold start to take their 3rd win at the expense of the pesky UPIS Fighting Maroons, 67-56.

The Baby Tams had a sloppy start in the game giving the Junior Maroons the opportunity to take over the first half of the game, leading 14-11 in the 1st quarter and closing out the first half 25-23.

The pace of the game changed in the second half as the Baby Tams charged back after outscoring the Junior Maroons 26-18, the Tams continues to lead throughout the game to get the victory.

Penny Estacio led the Baby Tams with 20 points and 11 rebounds, Patrick Sleat added 13 points, and Rey Remogat scored 10 points.

#UAAP82 Juniors Day 3: Baby Tamaraws stuns Blue Eagles with dominant win

The Far Eastern University-Diliman Baby Tamaraws improved their record to 2-1 after they charged down the Ateneo Blue Eaglets 82-75.

The Baby Tams showed off an early dominance in this game after the build up a huge 29-10 advantage in the opening period, although the Blue Eaglets kept on mounting a comeback the and slowly trimming down the 19 point advantage in the succeeding quarters still the Baby Tams were able to keep their lead through out the game.

#UAAP82: FEU Cheering Squad gets back to back 1st runners up finish in UAAP CDC

The Far EasternUniversity Cheering Squad took their 18th podium finish in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition after they were able to get the 1st runners up once again for two consecutive years, the FEU CS performed a Michael Jackson themed performance complete with a moonwalks and of course the iconic thriller routine that brought the house down with a cheer dancer played as Michael Jackson who rose from the grave.

The Morayta based squad also took home another back to back 1st runners up finish in the group stunts category.

NU won the title once again in both Group Stunts and Cheerdance Competition, while Adamson bagged the 2nd runners up in both categories.

#UAAP82 Juniors Day 2: Baby Tams charges back after dominant win over Red Pages

After a lackluster opening game, the FEU Baby Tamaraws charged back at the expense of the UE Red Pages after they dominated them 74-45.

The Baby Tams poised an early lead in the opening period with a 14-7 advantage, as the Red Pages struggled in their offense the Baby Tams took the opportunity to take a 31-14 lead at the end of the first half.

In the second half the Baby Tams continues to dictate the pace of the game as they dominated again with a 24-9 quarter output that pushed their lead up 55-23 to end the third period. In the final period the Red Pages were able to be at par with the baby tams scoring, but still wasn't enough to even lower the lead down.

Rookie Penny Estacio led the Baby Tams in scoring with 13 points and 9 rebounds, Aeron Bagunu added 10 points and 14 rebounds.
