#UAAPLXXIX Football: Ateneo, La Salle Takes Men's and Women's Title

The Ateneo De Manila University Blue booters finally takes home the championship of the football tournament after outlasting the valiant Far Eastern University Tamaraws 1-0, meanwhile the De La Salle Lady Booters outlasted the UST Tigresses to sweep the football tournament after an intense 3-1 battle.

#UAAPLXXIX Volleyball: De La Salle Lady Spikers Reign Supreme, Ateneo Blue Eagles Makes It Three.

 

The De La Salle University Lady Spikers triumphed in the women's volleyball division of UAAP Season 79 after they swept their bitter rivals Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagles in the best of three finals.

 

The Game one went smooth for the Lady Spikers, taking the game in four sets 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, and 25-20. Tin Tiamzon the scoring with 15 points all from spikes followed by Kim Dy with 14 points, on the side of the Lady Eagles Jhoana Maraguinot had 16 points while Bea De Leaon added 14 points.

 

Going to the game 2 of the finals many expected that the series will go down the line and they weren't disappointed as the two teams slug it out in the five setter finals where the Lady Spikers managed to staged a come from behind 19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18, and 15-10 victory to cope their 10th title and getting a back to back championship.

 

Kim Dy led the scoring for the Lady Spikers in Game 2 with 19 points, Tin Tiamzon added 16 points, while Desiree Cheng scored 12. On the side of the Lady Eagles top scored with 16 points, while Bea De Leon and Jho Maraguinot both added 14 points.

 

Desiree Cheng was named as the Finals MVP, while Majoy Baron was named Season MVP. Meanwhile Jaja Santiago bagged the Best Scorer, Spiker and Blocker award, Kim Fajardo was named as the Best Setter and Server, Kathleen Arado bagged the Best Digger, Dawn Macandili retained the Best Receiver Award and Juliane Samonte was named as the Rookie of the Year.

In the Men's Division the Ateneo Blue Eagles remained unbeated as they swept the NU Bulldogs to bag a three peat championship after an intense game 1 and game 2. The Game 2 went 18-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13, while game one went 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, and 15-13. 

 

Tony Koyfman bagged the Finals MVP, while Mark Espejo bagged his fourth season MVP plum and the Best Spiker and Best Scorer award. Bryan Bagunas gets the Best Server award,Ricky Marcos gets the Best Digger, Ish Polvoraza was named the best setter, John Paul Bugaoan was named as the Best Blocker, Rikko Marmeto takes the Best Receiver award, Chumason Njigha was named as the Rookie of the Year.

Oppo F3: The Affordable Groufie Expert

After releasing their premium Groufie smartphone the F3 Plus, Oppo seems to be on a roll as they unveiled another Groufie expert smartphone last Thursday at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City. Dubbed as the F3, yes they just removed the plus so you know by now that this one is a smaller and downgraded version of the latter product, this one targets the midrange market.

So what differentiate the Oppo F3 over the F3 Plus?

The F3 features a smaller 5.5 inches IPS LCD display, but with a higher pixel density of 401ppi. Another major change in the F3 is the chipset, the F3 uses a lower Mediatek MT6750T processor compared to the Snapdragon 653 of the F3 Plus.

The rear camera was also a bit downgraded in the F3 as it uses a 13 megapixel f.2/2 camera compared to the 16 megapixel camera of the F3 plus, the front facing camera were also a bit different as the F3 uses a lower sensor size.

The Battery was also downgraded from 4000 mAh down to 3200 mAh. One major difference is the price tag as the F3 is priced at Php 16999 compared to the Php 21999 of the F3 Plus.

In parts like the memory, both devices got 64GB of ROM and 4GB of RAM, corning gorilla glass protection, fingerprint scanner, and dual sim capable,

Legend of the Blue Sea and Goblin Premieres On ABSCBN

Korean drama fans are in for the biggest summer treat ever as the first and true home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN, premieres on Monday (May 8) two of the biggest Koreanovelas of 2016— “Legend of the Blue Sea” and “Goblin” — topbilled by two of the hottest and most popular Asian superstars today, Lee Min Ho and Gong Yoo.

The Queen of Soul Jaya is back on the concert scene via  her concert "Jaya: No Boundaries" at the Music Museum this May 12, 2017. It has been three years since the last time Jaya had a concert that's why fans should watch out for her in this concert as she goes all out in this one since she is with a new management and a new station.

Review: Luck At First Sight

Luck At First Sight

Luck At First Sight tackles the story of two strangers named Joma and Diane. Joma is a happy go lucky gambler that gambles his life in gambling, but one day himself into an ill-fated situation resulting him to search for his last resort, his “Life Charm”. Meanwhile, Diane a loving daughter and a non-believer of Luck went through a tough test as his father got sick and they had nothing.

The series of unfortunate events left Joma and with no choice but to team up for luck, but little they know that the luck that they have will turn into love. Will they gamble on love or will they keep their luck?  

Luck at First Sight is a romance-drama movie with a bit of magic, the story of the movie was unique because it is quite new to me since I haven’t seen any movie that features a story about love and gambling literally. This is not your typical romantic movie, it’s not the type that you have frequently seen in cinemas every now and then.

I loved how well Bela Padilla and Neil Arce conceptualized and wrote the movie, from the lines and the flow of the story I felt it was smooth and free flowing. Also, kudos to Direk Dan Villegas for executing the movie really well, it was really good and I guess this is one of the best films from Viva I saw for years.

I must admit that the backside of the movie is that it’s not that relatable specially on the part of gambling (I myself wasn’t able to relate and understand the game that they are playing since I never went to a casino nor played any type of gambling activities) though I believe that the gambling part was used to symbolize how the character gambled on life.

When it comes to the acting department, Bela Padilla just showed how versatile an actress, she is, from comedy, drama, romance she can do it and one thing I like about Bela is that she can blend in with whoever she is paired with. I actually liked the way she portrayed Dianne, I really felt it was her, it was so natural and effortless.

Jericho Rosales proved that he is still in his prime, nothing has changed with him, he is still one of the best actors in the industry and in this movie he was able to showcase his versatility. Actually, he and Bela blended well in this movie.

All in all Luck at First Sight is a good movie, it was well crafted, acted, and executed. Your Php 250+ will be worth it, gamble in and watch Luck at First Sight this May 3 in cinemas nationwide from Viva Films and N2 Productions.

Binibining Pilipinas 2017 Winners

The new queens were crowned in the Binibining Pilipinas 2017! 6 lovely Binibinis were named as the newest representatives of our country to different international pageants, they were led by the half British Rachel Peters, who swung her way to the Miss Universe-Philippines after nailing not only the swimsuit competition, but also the Q&A round. Peters bagged the Face of Binibini, Jag Denim Queen, and the Best in Swimsuit award.

The 25 year old Rachel Peters was born in Camarines Sur, she finished her studies at La Trobe University in Australia with a degree of Bachelor of Business, Tourism, and Events. She is currently working as a model here in the Philippines.

Next is Maria Angelica De Leon, the daughter of Christopher De Leon was able bag the Binibining Pilipinas 2017-International, De Leon was named as Miss Creamsilk and Best in Long Gown. For the third crown, it was Chanel Olive Thomas, who was able to take the Binibining Pilipinas 2017-Supranational, she also won the Best In National Costume and Miss Friendship.

For the Binibining Pilipinas-Grand International, Elizabeth Clenci was able to clinch that crown. Meanwhile crowd and social media favorite Katarina Rodriguez was placed as Binibining Pilipinas-Intercontinental 2017 and for the last crown which is Miss Globe-Philippines it was Nelda Ibe who got the position.

Another favorite Charmaine Elima only settled as 1^st runner up, while Kristel Guelos was placed as 2^nd runner up. The pageant was held last night at the Araneta Coliseum hosted by Xian Lim and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
