#NCAA91 The Finals Game 1: Letran Beats San Beda

It was a classic game between the classic NCAA rivals San Beda and Letran as they faced each other in the game 1 of the finals of the 91st season of the NCAA held at the Mall of Asia Arena, with the Knights taking the first blood beating out the Red Lions 94-90. 

As expected it was a thriller between the two winning-est team in the NCAA as both squad did not let anyone get away with a huge lead even at the start of the game, Though San Beda had a good start at the beginning of the game still the Knights were able to show that they can match the Red Lions as the were able to take the lead 22-21 to end the first period. 

Entering the second period still Letran showing their dominance as they extend their lead to 29-24 with seven minutes left in the first half, but slowly the Red Lions are erasing their lead take a 41-39 advantage over Letran at the end of the first half. 

Though San Beda were able to end the first half on their side, still the Knights were the dominant team in the game as again they were able to take the lead 54-48 with under six minutes left in the game even making it a 58-52 lead with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game. San Beda still not giving up in the game as they retake the lead to end the third period on their side 62-61. 

The game intensifies entering the last ten minutes of regulation with the Knights showing their dominance over San Beda as they were able to take a 83-78 lead with less than 5 minutes left in the game. The Red Lions not giving up were still able to tie the game at 85 with two minutes left in the game, with few ticks left and Letran now up 92-87, San Beda's Dan Sara shot a three to make it 92-90, but it was too late as the Knights were able to take the first game of the finals on their side. 

Kevin Racal stars in this game 1 victory for the Knights scoring 28 points, while Rey Nambatac, Mark Cruz, and McJour Luib added 18,17, and 16 points respectively for Letran. On the other side Ola Adeogun carried the Red Lions producing 23 points and 16 rebounds, this is the first time that San Beda loss in the first game of the Finals after almost 6 years. 

The Game two of the Finals will be 4pm on Tuesday, October 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena

#UAAP78 Day 19: NU Stays Alive, Ateneo Pulls An Upset

The National University escapes an almost dethronement as they were able to survive the gritty Adamson squad 82-75

The Bulldogs started the game slow as Adamson soars high unexpectedly in the first period even without  one of their ace players Joseph Nalos who was suspended for one game, the Falcons were able to take a 16-12 lead at the end of the first. 

Adamson kept soaring high in the second period even leading the Bulldogs 30-19 in the mid part of the second period, though the Bulldogs were able to cut the lead down to 5, finishing the first half 36-31 still in favor of Adamson. 

In the third period the Bulldogs finally were able to take over the driver seat as they final lead the falcons 42-40 with less than six minutes left, but Adamson still were able to take the lead back to end the third 53-50. 

Again the Falcons took advantage of the sloppy defense of NU early in the fourth to take a 59-52 lead with seven minutes left in the game, but the Bulldogs were able shift the momentum on their side to take the lead and even almost winning the game as they went up 72-70 with just a few ticks left in the game, but Adamson's Ivan Villanueva were able to score an equalizer to send the game into overtime. 

With momentum still on their side the defending champs quickly breezes through the defense of the Falcons to take an 80-75 lead even without Alfred Aroga as he already fouled out of the game. J-Jay Alejandro saved the Bulldogs from dethronement as he poured in 22 big points for NU. 

Meanwhile, Pape Sarr carried the Adamson squad with his double-double performance of 32 points and 17 rebounds, as the Falcons crashed to a 1-9 record.

Despite facing some issues with some of their players, Ateneo were able to pull off a surprise win against the league leading UST 80-74.

The Blue Eagles were off to a hot start in the game as they were able to capitalize the slow start of UST to begin the game with a huge 21-12 lead.Entering the second period the outside shooting of Ateneo was just unstoppable as they were able to extend their lead 41-28 at the end of the first half.

In the third period slowly the Tigers started to heat up as they cut the lead of Ateneo down to just eight points to end the third period. Though UST almost come back to life in the third, still the Blue Eagles were able to extend their lead to 70-57 with five minutes more to go in the game.

Ateneo learned their lessons well as they were able to prevent the Tigers to make any runs in the fourth period. Arvin Tolentino starred in this win of the Blue Eagles as he scored a game high 20 points, adding to that is Von Pessumal's 16 points. Ateneo now takes the solo third spot with a 6-4 record.

Ed Daquioag and Marvin Lee combined 34 points for the Tigers as they dropped to 8-2 record.

#NCAA91 Day 41: Letran and San Beda Sets Up Finals Duel

In the Semifinals match of the 91st season of the NCAA held at the Mall of Asia, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran ends the 11 game winning streak of the Mapua Institute of Technology 91-90 to return in the finals of the NCAA.

Mapua started the game strong determined to extend their winning streak and sending their semis match up to a rubber as they lead the Knights 10-5 early in the game, but Letran also eager to get back in the finals manage to snatch the lead away from the Cardinals as the end the first period 21-17.

It was an intense second and third quarter as both squads didn't allow anyone to lead by more than four points, as the two quarters was a seesaw battle between Letran and Mapua. The second period going in favor of the Knights 45-42, while the third period going in the way of the Cardinals 67-70.

In the fourth period it was still a close one, though Mapua were able get a 76-71 lead over the knights early in the final period, it was still the maturity and the veterans of Letran that pulled them up as they were able to escape Mapua by just a single point

Veteran Guard and dubbed as the "Ant Man" Mark Cruz led the Knights with 24 points, helping him  is another veteran knight Kevin Racal who scored 19 points as the Knights barged in again in the finals of the NCAA.

Meanwhile sophomore guard Exeqiel Biteng top scored for the Cardinals with 17 points, adding to that is the combined 30 points of Veteran Josan Nimes and Rookie Darrell Menina.

In the second game the 5 time defending Champions San Beda College turns back the gritty Jose Rizal University 78-68 to set up the finals duel between them and their bitter rival Letran. 

The Red Lions show early dominance over the Heavy Bombers early in the game, JRU still were able to steal the lead to end the first quarter ahead 17-19. the Heavy Bombers continue to held on to their lead in the second period as they were able to extend their lead to a 25-31 lead with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.

JRU continues to show their dominance at the start of the second half as they were able to shrug off the threat of the Red Lions to take the lead, they were even able to take a 35-42 lead over San Beda with less than six minutes remaining, but in the last few minutes of the third period the Red Lions were able to turn things around as they were able to grab the lead to end the third period 56-53.

As the Red Lions grabbed the lead there's no turning back anymore as they continue to punish JRU extending their lead to a 66-58 lead with four minutes remaining in the game. Entering the last two minutes San Beda showed complete dominance as they diffused the Heavy Bombers to return to the finals for the tenth straight year.

Baser Amer, Roldan Sara, Acee Soberano, and Donald Tankoua combined a total of 42 points for the Red Lions in this game. Meanwhile, Marco Balagtas and Abdel Poutouchi combined 26 points for JRU.

#UAAP78 Day 18: Ateneo Snaps Losing Skid, UST Avenges Loss

The Ateneo Blue Eagles successfully snaps their two game losing skid as they beat out the Adamson Soaring Falcons 87-72 at the Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday.

Ateneo had a hard time escaping Adamson early in the game as both squad are really determined to nap their losing skid, still the Blue Eagles were able to get a 22-19 lead at the end of the first.

Entering the second period the Falcons soars high as they were able to take the lead 24-26 with 8 minutes left in the game, at that point it was a tit for tat game for both squads as they began to exchange the lead, but Ateneo were able to made a run to pull away to end the first half 50-41.

Second half gets worst for the Falcons as Ateneo starts to pull away sending them crashing down 79-58 at the end of the third period. In the fourth period Adamson though they made an 8-0 run against the Blue Eagles early in the fourth period to closed in at 79-66, momentum is still with Ateneo as they were able to keep the Falcons down at the bottom of the standing.

Kiefer Ravena and Von Pessumal scored a combined 37 points for the Blue Eagles in this game, meanwhile Pape Sarr and JD Tungcab combined 28 points for the Falcons.

In the second game, UST avenges their only loss in this season against NU after beating them 65-57.

The defending champs started the game strong leading UST 13-7 early in the game, but the Growling Tigers slowly but surely erased the lead of NU to take a 20-14 advantage at the end of the first, UST's shooting heats up in the second quarter giving the Bulldogs a hard time to catch up ending the first half 35-23.

UST just showing dominance in the game as they continue to lead the defending champions at the end of the third period 51-40. In the fourth period NU tried to come back to life as they were able to trim the lead of the Tigers down to just 3 points 51-48 with 6 minutes left in the game and eventually taking over the lead 54-55, with less than four minutes remaining.

Though the last few ticks of the game was a close one it was the pesky defense of the Tigers paved the way for their win as they were able to force turnovers on the side of the Bulldogs for them to take a more comfortable lead.

Karim Abdul and Kevin Ferrer scored 13 points apiece, adding to that is Ed Daquioag's 10 points which all came in the second half. On the other side Gelo Alolino led the struggling NU Bulldogs with 20 points, NU is now down to a 3-6 record that is very dangerous as they still have to face La Salle, Ateneo, and FEU

#NCAA91 Day 40: Mapua Gets The Third Spot

In the last game of the play offs to break the ties in the 91st season of the NCAA at the Mall of Asia Arena, the Mapua Cardinals extends their winning streak to eleven after beating the JRU Heavy Bombers 81-76.

JRU started the game driven to stay at the number three position, they easily manage to get a 16-12 lead early in the game, but a very aggressive Cardinals took control of the game to end the first period 19-16. In the second period both them became more aggressive as they started to exchange leads through out the period, but still Mapua still manage to take a 38-32 lead over the Heavy Bombers at the end of the half.

In the third period the Cardinals opens up a huge 42-33 lead over JRU, but the Heavy Bombers suddenly came back to life at the half of the third period taking an 11-0 run to take a 44-42 lead, but Mapua were able to recover to end the third 56-54. Fourth Quarter intensifies as both squads won't let any of them take a huge lead and pull away.

CJ Isit's intense perimeter shooting puts Mapua on their 11th straight victory with 27 big points, adding to that is Darrell Menina's 16 points. The Cardinals will face the twice to beat Letran Knights this Tuesday at 2pm at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Meanwhile Tey Teodoro led the Heavy Bombers with 16 points, the Heavy Bombers will face the 5 time defending champions San Beda also this Tuesday at the MOA Arena at 4pm

Everyday I Love You

A few months after the success of their movie "Just the Way You Are", Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil is returning on the big screen via the movie "Everyday I Love You", the movie also involves Gerald Anderson. 

The movie is about Ethan(Gil) a young achiever who fell in love with Audrey(Soberano), a young lass from an hacienda in Bacolod who is into a relationship with Tristan(Anderson) a young haciendero who is in a deep coma. What will happen when things gets complicated between the three of them? will she choose the man of her dreams or the man who fulfill her dream? .

The movie directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, the movie is set to premiere this October 28, 2015. 

#UAAP78 Day 17: La Salle Bounces Back, FEU Takes Solo Lead.

The De La Salle Green Archers beats the UE Red Warriors 72-64 to bounce back after losing their match last Sunday against UST.

La Salle opens the game with a 19-16 advantage against the Red Warriors at the end of the opening period. In the second period La Salle's Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres led the run of the Green Archers to take a 41-30 lead at the end of the first half.

Entering the second half, UE became more aggressive as they were able to get close to the Green Archers to end the third period down by only 5 points 50-55. Entering the final period the Red Warriors had the chance to tie the game at least, but La Salle again uses a 7-0 run to take a more comfortable lead 71-58 with only a few ticks left in the game.

Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres led the Green Archers in this game scoring combined 35 points in this game, meanwhile Chris Javier and Emil Palma combined 28 points for the Red Warriors.

Far Eastern University takes the top spot again after defeating the University of the Philippines 68-57 in the main match of the Mid Week Match of the 78th season of the UAAP at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tamaraws opens the game with a three coming from Roger Pogoy, though FEU began the game on a high note still the Fighting Maroons took a 19-17 edge over the Tamaraws at the end of the first period. In the second period the aggressiveness of the Tamaraws were able to put them back on top 33-28 to end the first half.

Second Half was some how a slow one for both squad, though UP were able to outscore the Tamaraws in the third period to keep the game close at 43-40. In the final period, FEU started to pull away using a run to take a 63-48 lead with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.

Roger Pogoy took charge for the offense of the Tamaraws in this game producing 17 points, but it was the last quarter heroics of Mac Belo that helped the Tamaraws pull away in the fourth period scoring 9 of his 12 points in the final 10 minutes of the game, adding to that is Mike Tolomia's 11 points. On the side of UP, Diego Dario led the Maroons with 16 points.
