He’s one of our favorite Chinito Charmers here on Big Beez Buzz — Tyrone Tan. We first featured him back in February 2022, during the height of the pandemic, when everything yes, including interviews had to be improvised. Tyrone was young, a bit timid, and admittedly quite the quiet guy back then. Yet even then, his charm and sincerity shone through, making that conversation one of the most delightful moments we had during those lockdown days.
Fast forward three years later, Tyrone returns to Big Beez Buzz, still the same shy cutie we fondly remember, but now with newfound confidence and maturity.
This time, Tyrone steps onto a bigger stage as he joins Mister Chinatown Philippines 2025, where he will compete alongside 13 other candidates in one of the most prestigious pageants within the Chinoy community.
Interestingly, Tyrone entered the competition as a wildcard candidate, joining after the official press presentation. When asked why he hadn’t joined in the past, he admitted that he never really saw himself as a pageant type of guy. Sports had always been his comfort zone, and he preferred the adrenaline of competition over the spotlight of pageantry.
However, life had other plans. Now that he’s part of Mister Chinatown Philippines, Tyrone channels his athletic discipline and competitive spirit into this new arena. Preparing for the competition, he focuses not only on the physical aspect but also on his mental and spiritual growth. He believes that joining a pageant requires more than just physical strength — it demands mental toughness and resilience to endure the challenges that come with being a candidate.
Tyrone shared that during his first week in the competition, he came in with his game face on, quietly observing who might be his toughest rivals. But as the competition progressed, he realized that his biggest competition was himself, and that the journey would be more fulfilling if he treated everyone as friends rather than rivals.
As he got to know his fellow candidates, Tyrone began to see them as brothers rather than competitors. He found himself becoming part of a community within a community — one that values camaraderie, growth, and shared experiences as much as individual achievement.
Through this experience, Tyrone has not only embraced a new kind of challenge but also discovered a deeper sense of connection and purpose. The boy who once preferred staying behind the scenes is now learning to shine under the spotlight not just for himself, but for the friendships and brotherhood he has built along the way.
Three years after that first car interview, Tyrone Tan proves that growth doesn’t always mean changing who you are. Sometimes, it’s about becoming more comfortable with the person you’ve always been.
The Mister and Miss Chinatown Philippines 2025 coronation night happens on October 26 at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City, Cubao. Support our favorite Chinito Charmer, Tyrone Tan!
