Lovi Poe makes big-screen Regal comeback via 'Guilty Pleasure,' opening on Oct. 16

Guilty never felt so hard. Pleasure never felt so good.

Award-winning Kapamilya actress Lovi Poe makes her big-screen Regal comeback via Regal Entertainment and C'est Lovi Productions' new social romantic drama Guilty Pleasure, set to premiere on October 16 in Philippine cinemas.

While she recently starred in the Netflix film Seasons (also produced by Regal Entertainment) in 2023, this marks her latest theatrical release with the production company since 2019’s The Annulment, bringing the multi-awarded star, dubbed the Philippines' Supreme Actress, back to the big screen in a powerful new role.

Through the impactful writing of Noreen Capili, FSG, Guilty Pleasure delves into the complexities of love, betrayal, and ambition, set against the high-stakes world of law and personal struggles.

Director Connie Macatuno’s masterful direction brings these themes to life, making the story both compelling and authentic.

Joining Lovi in this gripping drama are fellow Kapamilya stars JM De Guzman and Jameson Blake, who play crucial roles in the tangled life of Lovi’s character, Alexis Miranda. JM portrays Adam Lucero, a man who shattered Alexis’ heart and threatened her career, while Jameson plays Matthew Caliente, a young lawyer she once mentored.

Also rounding out the cast are Sarah Edwards, Dustin Yu, and Angelica Lao, each adding depth to the film’s emotional intensity. The dynamic chemistry and charged tension between their characters promise to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as their intertwined pasts collide, weaving a tale posed to make viewers eager for more.

Alexis Miranda, a highly skilled attorney who owns Miranda and Associates, accepts Zach Lopez, a man accused of rape, as her client. This means going against Atticus, the biggest law firm in the country, and her former colleagues who are representing the victim—Madison Valencia. Things become complicated when Alexis recalls the trauma of her own past while working on the case. She once again has to deal with Adam Lucero, the man who broke her heart, betrayed her trust, and almost made her lose her career, and Matthew Caliente, the young lawyer she mentored in the past.

It should be noted that Guilty Pleasure also marks a significant milestone in Lovi Poe’s career. This film is the debut offering of her own production company, C’est Lovi Productions, allowing her to take a more hands-on role in the filmmaking process.

Having long wanted to be more involved in movie production, Lovi’s new venture showcases her passion and dedication to crafting meaningful stories.

Partnering with Regal Entertainment, a company that has supported her since her first film appearance in the horror anthology Shake, Rattle, and Roll 9, felt like the perfect fit for this new chapter in her career.

Lovi’s creative influence, both in front of and behind the camera, ensures that Guilty Pleasure is not just a comeback but a step forward in revolutionizing her craft.

How do you plead? — A tale of betrayal and redemption

Roselle Monteverde, President and CEO of Regal Entertainment, highlighted the film’s core message of betrayal and redemption.

“It's about how dreams, both personal and professional, can be crushed by someone you once held dear,” she explained. The film subtly addresses the lasting impact of such betrayals and the inner strength required to reclaim your sense of self.

Keith Monteverde, Executive Vice President of Regal Entertainment, emphasized the film’s theme of empowerment through choice.

“The ability to say ‘yes,’ when it's truly your decision, is as important as saying ‘no.’ Guilty Pleasure explores this balance of consent and agency in a way that opens up meaningful conversations.”

As Lovi shared during her most recent interview on live broadcast through GMA's Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Guilty Pleasure isn’t just a movie—it’s an experience that encourages reflection and discussion. Tackling themes like trauma, ambition, and personal integrity, the film is designed to spark conversations about the complexities of human relationships. Watching it on the big screen amplifies the emotions and intensity of the story.

In the trailer, Lovi Poe’s character delivers a powerful line: “One day, we will cross paths, and I’ll be strong enough, I’ll be f**king strong enough to tell everybody.” This statement sums up the movie’s journey of reclamation, self-worth, and personal triumph.

As Guilty Pleasure opens in cinemas nationwide on October 16, don’t miss Lovi Poe’s return to Regal Entertainment’s caring arms.
