The Far Eastern University Tamaraws trounces the De La Salle Green Archers 76-69 in their quarterfinals do or die match up in the Fil Oil 2018 Pre Season Cup.
The Tamaraws took control of the opening quarter with a 15-11 lead, going to the second period La Salle continues to chase down the lead of FEU, but Hubert Cani was to the rescue to put the Tamaraws on top with a 35-27 lead at the end of the first half.
The Green Archers were able to start off the third period on a high note with Taane Samuel raking on FEU's foul trouble, but Arvin Tolentino and Kenneth Tuffin came in to the rescue for the Tamaraws and push them to a 52-46 lead at the end of the third.
In the final period the Tamaraws went off as they let La Salle take a 59-54 lead early in the final period, but going mid of the final period Hubert Cani went on fire as he shoots down 11 staright points to push FEU with a 74-69 win.
Hubert Cani went for the kill with 22 points for the Tamaraws. Andrei Caracut topped the scoring for La Salle with 15 points.
Meanwhile on the first game, the College of Saint Benilde Blazers escaped past the UP Fighting Maroons, Clement Leutcheu led the Blazers with 16 points while Bright Akhuetie had 22 for UP.
In the second game the San Beda University scored another semis appearance after the outlasted Adamson University 64-62, Robert Bolick had 23 points for the Red Lions while Sean Manganti had 20 points.
In the final game of the quarterfinals, the Ateneo Blue Eagles made a huge comeback to beat the Letran Knights 74-72, Nieto Twins both scored 9 to push Ateneo in the Semis, while John Calvo had 16 for Letran.
The Semis begins tomorrow with FEU battling Ateneo in the first game at 4:30pm, while San Beda will fight CSB at 6:30, games will be at the San Juan Arena with Sports5.ph covering the games.
