New Comer: Xander Gallego

If you've seen the movie "My Ex and Why's" you probably noticed the good looking youngest brother of Enrique Gil's character in the movie, well if you haven’t know him he is Xander Gallego.

Born as Alexander Taclob Kirchman, Xander is a half Filipino and half German model who came all the way from Cagayan De Oro City. He stands at around 5’11” and he is into playing soccer. At a young age Xander is already doing ramp modeling back in CDO, I forgot to tell you that he is only 16 years old, turning 17 this April 1 to be exact.

Xander is really a head turner, he has this mysterious aura that will urge you to look at him again. The mysterious cloak disappears every time he shows his killer smile, turning him to a boy next door guy that is very charming and appealing. I remember the first time we met him was at an event of Chalk Magazine’s Bright Young Manila Campus Hottie back in August I think, we actually thought he was one of the contestants in the BYM because he fits to the criteria and he actually stood out in that event even though he was just a guest.

Not only his good looks that made girls drool over him, but also his good physique, well-toned athletic built, and his personality that made the girls go crazy over him, because he looked more mature he attracts the eyes of different people in different age and I guess that isn’t bad after all.

Going back to his performance in “My Ex and Why’s”, Xander really surprised me with his performance, actually I was amazed with how Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina entrusts him of important scenes and I guess I could say that he delivered the character really well.

Xander might be a new comer in the industry, but this kid has a lot of potential to become the next teen heartthrob. The charm, the looks, the talent, Xander is one of the faces to watch out for this 2017.

Nokia 3310(2017): A Classic Reinvention

It's been seventeen years since the iconic Nokia 3310 was launched in the mobile phone market, making its entrance in the market back in the year 2000 it bolstered the status of Nokia as the world's number one mobile phone manufacturer. It is not the best phone back then, but consumers remembered it because it is one durable phone that lasts for days without charging and it can stand the nastiest fall and still it can work.

Most Millenials didn't experienced the Nokia 3310, but I bet most of us our parents owned one before. I remember my mother bought two Nokia 3310 before and it was around PHP 6k-7k before and one thing I enjoyed in that Nokia 3310 is the games the Bantumi, Space Impact, and of course the Snake 2 (The original Snake game was on the 3210), another thing that I liked about Nokia phones before (this is in general) is the interchangable casing wherein you can mixed and match different colors of casings

those were the days that phones is run by its features and not by applications unlike now maybe kids who were born in the same year of the 3310 won't appreciate what the 3310 can do since they grew up in the smartphone era.

So okay going back to the 3310 2017 edition that was announced last night at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Nokia reimagined and reinvented the classic iconic 3310 to fit in the modern day mobile phone market as it features a colored 2.4 inches screen as compared to the monotonous one before, the new 3310 also features a 2 megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, and a bigger 1200mAh battery that can last upto 1 month on stand by, it still support the classic mini sim card and it also has a dual sim variant.

The Nokia 3310 2017 edition is priced at 49 euros and it is set to be released globally this second quarter of 2017 along with the Nokia 3, 5, and 6.

Next up was the Nokia 5, the 5 features a smaller 5.2 inch screen, according to HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas the Nokia 5 was unique because of the way that they shaped a perfect 3D shape out of a block of 6000 serious aluminum making it robust. The 5 also comes in tempered blue, copper, silver, and black and it will retail for about 189 euros that’s more or less Php 12000.

The last android phone announced was the Nokia 3, the more affordable one that has a flagship design with a price point of 139 euros that’s only less than Php 10000. Being the more affordable one doesn’t mean that it will also be a compromised one instead just like its big brothers the 3 features it is also made out of a solid block of aluminum, it features a 5 inch display is bright polarized and laminated to a gorilla glass. The 3 also features a special 8 megapixel front facing camera sensor that features wide angle view and auto focus.

Review: My Ex and Why's

My Ex and Why’s (February 13)
Directed by: Cathy Garcia Molina
Starring: Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano
Genre: Romantic Comedy.

My Ex and Why’s tackles the love story of two bloggers named Cali (Soberano) the Bakit List girl and Gio (Gil) the Dahil List boy, their blogs came about after their relationship ended in bad fate. After years of not seeing each other they crossed paths again because of their blogs as they went viral over social media and there they started to rekindle their past and one by one their whys were answered.
The movie almost has all the common element in a Cathy Garcia Molina rom-com movie, and with that I meant the movie was good, the flow of the story was okay, I like how Direk Cathy uses certain antics to make the movie funnier.
My Ex and Why’s for me is the best movie of Liza Soberano, you will see a different Liza in this movie, it’s not just the wig that separates her new character from the rest of the characters she played, but the whole performance was really different.
I was in awe with how Liza delivered in this movie, she really matured in this movie, and she will not only make you cry she will also definitely make you laugh as well. The character of Cali is more mature and more outgoing than the past roles Liza did, but she was able to give justice to Cali and that really impresses me because she finally grew as an actress.
Enrique Gil in this movie is in his simplest form, there’s not much in his character aside from the heart that seeks forgiveness and asking for a second chance and that Enrique was able to execute. It was far from the loud and boy next door character that we are used to, but still Enrique delivers well in this movie.
What I loved most in this movie is the family of Gio, from the veteran Joey Marquez to the new comer Xander Gallego they were able to deliver the comic relief in their scenes, even though sometimes I find their scenes and lines irrelevant in the story they were still able to make me laugh.
Overall the movie is a must watch, it will teach you that never ever let your broken heart turn you into a monster that will apparently hurt everyone around you, learn to forgive or at least move on, this is a movie worth watching after Valentine’s day.

Review: I'm Drunk I Love You

I’m Drunk I Love You (February 12)
Directed By: JP Habac
Starring: Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino
Genre: Romantic Drama

I’m Drunk I Love You tells the story of best friends Dio (Avelino) and Carson (Salvador), basically the movie is a tale from the friendzone as Carson is secretly admiring Dio, but she’s too scared to tell him because she doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. Until a road trip turns everything around for both of them.

IDILY is the reunion movie of Maja and Paulo (Paumaj as their fans call them), aside from them the movie also stars Dominic Roco who plays the gay best friend of Maja named Jason Ty and Jasmine Curtis who plays the great love of Paulo named Pathy(Yes with H).
Undeniably the team up of Maja and Paulo on the big screen was a hit for me, I love how they attacked their characters as if they weren’t acting at all very natural that’s why I can say that I’m Drunk I Love You is a very relatable movie even though the storyline is simple and not that complicated.
Why did I say the story was simple, the whole story runs in a two or three day timeline, but in that short span of time the movie was able to successfully narrate the story without making the movie too complex.
I love how chill the movie is with a bit of “hugot” every now and then. Plus I like the role of Dominic Roco, not because he was gay there and he’s doing funny stuffs, I like his character because he served as the conscience of Maja’s character in the story.
All in all I enjoyed watching “I’m Drunk I Love You”, it is very relatable and real I somewhat felt that I am with them at the beach. The song choices was superb, it’s the ultimate chill movie with lots of hugots that I am sure many of you will relate to and this is a movie worth watching starting this February 15.

And it will make you crave for bagnet and butterball.
