Honorio Banario Will Not Waste His Second Chance In Lightweight Tournament

Team Lakay’s Honorio “The Rock” Banario will return to the Mall Of Asia Arena in Manila on August 2 to face Timofey Nastyukhin in the semi-finals of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES.

Banario was eliminated from the tournament when he failed to overcome Lowen Tynanes’ superior wrestling and groundwork at ONE: HERO’S ASCENT. Banario ended up getting knocked out in the first round when he got caught in a mounted crucifix and Tynanes went on to advance to the semi-final round.

Due to unfortunate events, however, Tynanes has suffered another back injury amidst his preparations for Nastyukhin and was forced to withdraw from the tournament. This paved the way for the former world champion to get back into the mix of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix.

Tynanes is the second to fall to injury in the tournament after Ariel Sexton was also sidelined on the other bracket.

“I’m truly grateful to be given this second chance at the Grand Prix by ONE Championship,” Banario said.

“Opportunities like these in the world of martial arts are diamonds in the rough and this is definitely something that I will not allow to pass me by. It’s truly unfortunate about what happened to Ariel [Sexton] and Lowen [Tynanes] and I wish for their fast recovery.”

Nastyukhin has proven to be a formidable striker in his ONE Championship stint to date, including a recent performance at ONE: A NEW ERA where he knocked out four-time lightweight world champion Eddie Alvarez in the first round.

Banario on the other hand has also had his fair share of highlight reel knockouts during his time in the ONE Circle. It will be difficult to distinguish who among the two powerful strikers will prevail, although Banario says he and Nastyukhin are quite different.

“I think Timofey and I have different striking skills,” Banario said.

“He is more explosive and aggressive while I prefer to be accurate and bide my time with my attacks. He is a very dangerous striker and I respect his skills as a martial artist but I will not allow myself to lose just yet.”

Banario has a lot to be thankful for lately and he wants to show his gratitude with the best performance of his entire career.

“I am not one to give a prediction but you can expect me to give everything I have and more until the very end,” Banario concluded.

“I want to show my appreciation to ONE Championship by giving them a performance worthy of a world champion as well as give my fellow Filipinos something to cheer about.”

No More First Day Last Day for Pinoy Movies as Opening Day sets on Friday

FRIDAY OPENING, NO FIRST DAY, LAST DAY FOR NEW FILMS RELEASED IN PH CINEMAS

Following several consultations with the film industry stakeholders and the public, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has released Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2019-01 with Policies and Guidelines on the Theatrical Release of Films in Philippine Cinemas.

“This [Memorandum Circular] is the culmination of FDCP’s efforts to strengthen our industry practices and level the playing field for all our stakeholders—from film producers, to distributors, to our exhibitors, and even the audience—through a transparent and fair set of guidelines that addresses the gaps that have long plagued our industry when it comes to screening films in commercial theatres,” said FDCP Chairperson Liza Diño, who spearheaded meetings and dialogues regarding industry practices since she came to office in 2016. Following several formal consultations with producers, theatres, and distributors to draft the contents of the guidelines, a public consultation with stakeholders was also conducted last April 25, 2019 at the Cinematheque Centre Manila. Partner government agencies like the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Management Bureau (DTI-EMB), and the Office of the Presidential Legal Counsel and Spokesperson were also part of the dialogues and have lent support to the development of the guidelines.

To push for Philippine cinema’s growth and development, new policies have been introduced via the MC which applies to both local and foreign films, including the switching of the theatrical release of local and foreign films nationwide from Wednesday to Friday to accommodate more potential moviegoers during the weekend. Every film booked for theatrical release must also have a minimum run-length of at least seven (7) days. Moreover, the theater assignments will be guaranteed for the first three (3) days to avoid movies from getting pulled out of cinemas.

"Full screens" must be assigned to the film booked for the first three (3) days of its run. This means there will be no “screen splitting,” or a double booking and exhibition for a single theatre screen.

An equitable ratio between Filipino films and foreign films should also be observed in regular playdates to give local films a higher chance of being seen by the audience, except in cases where a national film festival, such as Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) and Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

To encourage watching local films at the cinemas among the youth, the recommended national average movie ticket prices every Wednesdays for students of ages 18 years and below will now be priced at Two Hundred Pesos (P200.00) in Metro Manila and a maximum of One Hundred Fifty Pesos (P150.00) in provinces.

Meanwhile, films that have been theatrically released should be screened to other platforms in the country only after a holdback period of one hundred fifty (150) days after the first day of exhibition to maximize the movies’ revenue opportunity in local cinemas.

After the full contents of the circular have been released in a national newspaper this June 25, the policies and guidelines will take effect fifteen (15) days thereafter.

Mccoy Fundales launches new singles under ALTG Records

Bakit Kita Hahabulin by Mcoy Fundales
The newest record label in town, which will be discussed future on my blog recently launched their pioneer artist in the upcoming roster of music talents.

Mcoy Fundales, hailed from Bulacan. Dubbed as the “Musikerong Daddy” -- Mcoy Fundales is known to many as the former frontman of the band Orange and Lemons, the band who sang the franchise’s main theme, Pinoy Ako, from Pinoy Big Brother Season 1.

A self-confessed geek (graduating as Valedictorian in high school and Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines in Diliman), Mcoy never thought he could really sing and perform. He was often asked to sing in front of his class as a practical joke in high school. Mcoy found this embarrassing and he vowed to learn how to sing. He made true to his promise when he joined the school and church choir in his hometown of Baliwag, Bulacan.

What started out as a musical hobby led to him forming and playing in bands with schoolmates. It was when Orange and Lemons was formed and launched that they enjoyed enormous critical and commercial success as a band. Their hits include the songs Hanggang Kailan, Yakap sa Dilim, Heaven Knows, Blue Moon amongst others. Life went on for Mcoy after his stint in PBB and Orange and Lemons and started a band after that named KENYO.

Mcoy is is now back on track on his colorful musical career after being busy doing something he is also passionate about which is script writing. It's been 5-6 years when he started writing for TV. A writer and producer for GMA Network's various shows including Pepito Manaloto where he learned a lot from the genius Bitoy Micheal V. According to him, his love for writing started when he attended a script writing workshop of Ricky Lee and the rest is history.

The song, described as a modern kundiman is composed by Kian Dionisio. According to Mcoy, Kian was able to capture his attention because of the many feelings conveyed by the song's lyrics.

"Namiss ko rin kumanta. My last album was in 2010 so that's almost 9 years na. I'm excited and happy because almost 5 to 6 years na ako nagsusulat for TV at ngayon nag-record na ulit ng mga kanta."
