PBB Lucky Season 7 First Batch of Regular Housemates

The first batch of lucky regular housemates officially entered the famous yellow house last night (Oct 28) as ABS-CBN’s hit reality show “Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7” kicked off its regular edition.

Big Brother welcomed into his house the Incredible Hunk of Nueva Ecija, Tanner Mata; Bibang Bentang-guena of Batangas, Baninay Bautista; Rampa Raketera of Bulacan, Ali Forbes; Longing Son of Taguig, Luis Hontiveros; Lucky Bet na Miss of Tacloban, Thuy Nguyen; Dazzling Daughter of Bulacan, Cora Waddell; and Overseas Filipino Warrior of Tondo, Jerome Alecre.

Watch out for these new faces and personalities beginning tonight as they share their stories and show their authentic selves while facing various tasks and challenges.
Baninay, Ali, and Jerome are certified fighters after having been tested by fate early on in their lives. To provide for her family, Baninay took on multiple jobs and used her sunny disposition as fuel to keep her going.
Same goes for beauty queen Ali who has been working very hard to earn a living, especially after her family’s business went bankrupt.
Jerome, meanwhile, represents modern day Filipino heroes— the overseas Filipinos— and left everything he had in the Philippines to work abroad in hopes of giving his family a better life.
Life has not always been easy for head turners Cora and Luis, who continue to fight for their families. Internet sensation Cora went through a tough time in her life after her mom got into an accident in the US that depleted their family’s savings. This prompted them to go back to the Philippines and start anew here.
Meanwhile, Luis, who also went viral and known online as the cute and hunky nephew of a senator, wants nothing but a happy and complete family. Growing up, he didn’t feel close to his mother, so he does everything he can to make her feel proud of him.

It’s a different journey for Thuy and Tanner who have found their second home in the Philippines. Thuy is already a familiar face to many viewers as the Vietnamese housemate in “PBB’s” celebrity edition in Vietnam. War brought her and her family to the Philippines, where they found a safe haven for all of them.
Tanner, meanwhile, grew up in the US with his mom and step dad, whom he treated as his father. He never got to meet his biological dad until he was 13. Modelling brought him to Manila and found himself a new family and friends.

Who else will join the first seven lucky regular housemates? Watch out for them as Kuya reveals their identities from Nov 3 to Nov 5 on “It’s Showtime” and “TV Patrol.”
Since its launch in 2005, “Pinoy Big Brother” has mirrored the hopes, plight, and aspirations of Filipinos through its diverse mix of housemates. Big Brother formulates tasks and challenges for the housemates to bring out their best, test their strengths, and foster camaraderie as they undergo a transformative journey inside the house.

Don’t miss “Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7,” Mondays to Fridays after “Till I Met You” on ABS-CBN or on ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable Ch 167). Viewers can also catch up on the program’s past episodes via iWanTV.com and for Sky subscribers.

“Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7,” meanwhile, airs weekday afternoons at 5PM while “Pinoy Big Brother Season 7 Online Show” goes live online Mondays to Fridays at 7PM viawww.pinoybigbrother.com

The Unmarried Wife

Star Cinema brings back the team up of Angelica Panganiban and Dingdong Dantes (Segunda Mano, One More Try) along with Paulo Avelino in the movie "The Unmarried Wife", directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes. The movie tackles the story of a wife that is caught between holding on to her marriage and letting go of it to find someone deserving of her love. Can she unmarry herself to the promise of forever?

"The Unmarried Wife" is set to premiere this November 16 in cinemas nationwide.

#TheUnmarriedWife 8/10 The Unmarried Wife tackles the relationship of Anne(An Advertising Brand Manager) and her husband Geoff(A Sales Manager for an Oil Company), things complicate when Geoff continuesly cheat over and over and over again to Anne until she reach the point where in she got tired of it and decided to let go of their marriage. Things gets more complicated as Anne met Bryan again, thinking that he could be the one to make her happy not knowing the trouble she's getting into. The movie basically talks about first having an Affair, second looking for a Rebound, and third Reconcilliation I like the story of the movie, but there are scenes I felt that I am stucked in an endless flashback that I didn't know what's the present and what's the past. Angelica Panganiban just proved why she is deserving of the Drama Queen tag, I so love her scene with Maricar Reyes, the restaurant scene and her breakout scenes ofcourse. Dingdong Dantes never fails to impress, he really is one of the best actors in the industry. Also Paulo Avelino he really knows how to play with his emotions. All in all the movie was good worthy of your Php 250, it's not a super heavy drama movie and not your typical "Affair" and "Rebound" movie. #theunmarriedwifeworldpremiere

Working Beks

Viva Films proudly brings another gay movie that will show different types of gay in the society,  written and directed by Chris Martinez. "Working Beks" stars Edgar Allan Guzman,  Joey Paras, TJ Trinidad, Prince Stefan, and John Lapus. Coming out to cinemas this November 23!

The movie tackles the life of five gays with different personality, from the closeted actor Champ(EA Guzman), reformed gay Mandy(Joey Paras), executive Tommy(TJ Trinidad), yuppie Jet(Prince Stefan), and transgender breadwinner Gorgeous(John Lapus) the movie showcases their life and story behind the struggles and triumphs of being gay, the movie might feature the life of every gay person we know.
REVIEW:

#WorkingBeks 9/10

The movie tackles the life of five gay characters with different personalities, starting with the career driven Tommy, then the closeted actor Champ, the Ex Gay Mandy, the young and wild Jet, and the breadwinner Gorgeous.

All five of them have acceptance issues in their jobs, family, and in the society where they belong.

The movie was well executed every characters back story were well executed equally, you won't feel any blank spot in the story of every characters as all of them had equal exposures in the movie.

I love all the characters as they represents the modern day gay people who are striving and successful despite their sexual preference, they were all given justice by the actors who portrayed them. From TJ Trinidad to John Lapus, Prince Stefan, Joey Paras, and EA Guzman. But the characters of John Lapus and Prince Stefan was my favorites

John Lapus delivered well in the movie as he portrays the role of Gorgeous, that I believe many gay will relate on his character who is a bread winner, he's very helpful, diligent and generous to his family and to his mother even though they were left behind by his father.

I also like how the movie promotes not only acceptance of gays in our society, but also it raises awareness to an issue evidently and very timely in the LGBT community which is the HIV/AIDs, that it's not a curse but instead it is a sickness that needs not only of medical assistance but also self acceptance and support from your family. Many will learn from the character of Prince Stefan as Jet and his journey in discovering if he is positive.

Working Beks is one movie you shouldn't miss, it's not only for the beks out there it is for everyone to see, a movie about acceptance of who we, our friends, our love ones are. This movie is worthy of your time and money.

CInemaone Originals 2016

Cinema One Originals has made a name for itself as the film festival that breaks new ground and opens eyes to new modes of cinema, new forms of narrative, and new perspectives of storytelling. On its twelfth year, Cinema One Originals celebrates this with its new tagline: Anong Tingin Mo?
The literal translation of Anong Tingin Mo is “What do you think?” and in many ways, it encapsulates how any one film can be many different things to many different people but also exemplifies the multi-layered diversity that has been the hallmark of Cinema One Originals. This year will be all about different ways of looking at the same thing.
For the first time, Cinema One Originals gave grants to three original feature documentaries. Teng Mangansakan’s “Forbidden Memory” lifts the veil on the events of September 1974 as it talks to the survivors of a gruesome mass murder that has been kept under wraps for decades. Paolo Picones and Gym Lumbera’s “Piding” traces the history of Oliver Carlos, a grieving ornithologist reeling from tragedy who comes back to his hometown.  John Torres’ dreamlike, mysterious “People Power Bombshell” unearths a lost film by Celso Ad Castillo and probes its circumstances and implications.
Seven original narrative features were also given grants, three to Cinema One Originals alumni: “Lily,” about a woman who is rumored to be a half-monster, is Keith Deligero’s first foray into horror and myth. The quirky love story “Every Room Is A Planet” resumes Malay Javier’s fondness for juxtaposing science-fiction with youth culture. And Borgy Torre’s basketball crime film “Tisay” transposes his noir inflections onto a unique milieu.

Four first-time filmmakers will also make their debuts this year; Petersen Vargas’ dark high school comedy “2 Cool 2Be 4gotten,” Samantha Lee’s millennial love story “Baka Bukas,” Jose Abdel Langit’s ethnographic mystery “Malinak Ya Labi” and Jules Katanyag’s geriatric action film “Si Magdalola At Ang Mga Gago.”

This year’s festival will also screen a slew of acclaimed foreign films including some of this year’s world cinema highlights like Ashdar Fajardi’s “The Salesman,” Bruno Dumont’s “Slack Bay,” Xavier Dolan’s “It’s Only The End of the World,”  Ciro Guerrera’s “Embrace of the Serpent,” Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinart’s “Swiss Army Man” and Ken Loach’s “I, Daniel Blake,” critically-acclaimed documentaries  such as Gianfranco Rossi’s “Fuocuoammare,” Noah Baumbach & Jake Paltrow’s “De Palma” and Pierre Film’s “Close Encounters with Vilmos Szigmond” as well as a slate of the best horror films of the year: Na Hong-Jin’s “The Wailing,” Veronica Franz & Severin Fiala’s “Goodnight Mommy,” Robert Eggers’ “The Witch” and Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s “Creepy.”
Among the restored classics to be showcased this year are Mario O’Hara’s “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos,” Danny Zialcita’s “Nagalit Ang Buwan Sa Haba Ng Gabi,” Lino Brocka’s “Cain At Abel,” and Ishmael Bernal’s “Pagdating sa Dulo.” There will also be special screenings of Lav Diaz’s Golden Lion-winning “Ang Babaeng Humayo” and Sherad Sanchez’s found footage horror “Salvage.”
Cinema One Originals runs from November 14 to 22, 2016. Screenings will be at Trinoma, Glorietta, Gateway, Greenhills and Cinematheque.

#UAAPLXXIX Day 22: La Salle Dominates Red Warriors Again, UP Send Bulldogs Down To Their Sixth Straight Defeat

The De La Salle Green Archers extends their winning streak to 12 after they crush the UE Red Warriors 99-66. The Green Archers are just two game shy of an elimination sweep.

Dominant that is one word to describe La Salle in every game that they played, and this game against UE is not exempted to it as the Green Archers unleashed an early 19-5 romp to open the first quarter that closed at 24-15.

Going to the second period UE was able to get close with the Green Archers at 23-27, but La Salle was able to push the Red Warriors back to take a 10 point lead to end the first half at 37-27.

In the third period the Green Archers continues to dominate UE as they extend their lead up 63-43, the Red Warriors couldn't do anything to stop the mayhem of La Salle as they drop to a 48-70 deficit after three quarters.

La Salle pushed their lead up 75-59 lead to open the final period, the Red Warriors couldn't contain the hot shooting of La Salle that pushed them down to a 29 point deficit in the dying minutes of the game.

Ben Mbala had another dominant performance, having 26 points and 20 rebounds to lead La Salle in this victory, Jeron Teng added 20 points and Thomas Torres had 11 points. Meanwhile Alvin Pasaol was the lone Red Warriors to score in double figures with 17 points.

De La Salle Green Archers 99

Mbala 26, Teng 20, Torres 11, Melecio 9, Perkins 7, Tratter 6, Rivero Ri. 5, Rivero Pr 5, Sargent 4, Baltazar 2.

UE Red Warriors 66

Pasaol 17, Bartolome 9, Derige 9, Batiller 8, Nick 6, Varilla 5, Charcos 4, Gagate 4, Manalang 2, Olayon 2.

The University of the Philippines keeps their final four hopes alive after sending the slumping National U Bulldogs to their sixth straight defeat after a 71-66 ball game.

The Bulldogs opened the game red hot and eager to bounce back to the winning column after they led UP as high as 13 points in the opening period and finish it on top 21-12.

But going to the second period suddenly the eager and aggressive Bulldogs went sloppy as they only scored 10 points in the whole quarter, giving UP the opportunity to cut the lead down to  a 29-31 ball game at the end of the first half.

The Fighting Maroons made a quick work at the start of the second half, taking the lead away from NU. Though the Bulldogs was able to recover UP became more aggressive as they didn't let NU to regain their momentum as they finished the third period on top 45-41.

Rookie Javi Gomez De Liano sparked the run of UP in the fourth period, pushing their lead up at 61-51, and even extending it to a 66-52 advantage. The Bulldogs tried to make a comeback as the breaks of  the game went mostly on their side plus Jjay Alejandro started to get his shooting in to cut the lead of UP down 4, but that wasn't enough as they already ran out of time.

Joaquin Javier Gomez De Liano became the energizer bunny of the Maroons in the second half, scoring all of his 13 points in the third and fourth period. Meanwhile Jett Manuel had 19 points, Gelo Vito got 15 points, and Paul Desiderio had a double double of 13 points and  11 rebounds.

Jjay Alejandro had 23 points to lead the Bulldogs in losing efforts, while Matt Salem added 12 points for NU as they dropped to 4-8 tied with UP.
