They say third time is a charm and Pia Wurtzbach just proved that work hard and perseverance is a great combination as she finally bagged her elusive dream of winning the Miss Universe- Philippines Crown.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany to a German Father and a Filipina Mother, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach hails from Iligan City, but she was raised in Cagayan De Oro where she finished her primary school there before moving to England along with her mother Cheryl and younger sister Sarah.
Pia moved back in the Philippines and began her showbiz stint as a young star in ABSCBN, she was rebranded as Pia Romero since Bea Alonzo already uses the same surname that may cause confusion, Pia became part of the Star Circle Batch 11, she did several shows and movies, but later on she lie lowed after failing to get a break she deserves.
Pia finished her secondary education in ABSCBN Distance Learning Center and continue to study Culinary Arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies. Aside from being an aspiring chef Pia also focuses on being a Profesional Model for Ramp, Print, and TV, until she first joined Binibini back in 2013.
Joining Binibini for the first time in 2013, Pia was an early favorite to win a crown, because of her stunning beauty, slim figure, and enthusiastic personality, but the Binibini Gold ended and Pia went home without a crown only a 1st runner up sash and boquet of flowers.
In her second try, Pia looking almost perfect and again she was a favorite to win the MUP crown, but sudden turn of events happened and Pia went home literally empty handed, many though she will join another pageant or she'll retire from the pageant scene, but she decided to join again for the third time.
On her last try Pia gave all her best though many noticed she's not in her best form, but her grace, confidence, and personality pull her on top of the competition as she finally bagged the coveted crown.
The journey to the Miss Universe crown is not easy for Pia, but her transformation was really astounding that her haters were turned to fans, making her chances to win the crown more possible. Will Pia Wurtzbach end the 42 year drought?
