Review: Unexpectedly Yours
Unexpectedly
Yours
Director:
Cathy Garcia-Molina
Starring:
Sharon Cuneta, Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto, and Robin Padilla
Genre:
Romance, Comedy
Unexpectedly
Yours tackles the story of Patty (Cuneta) a menopausal 50 year old Marketing
Head who’s struggling to keep her Family intact and her work progress up and
Cocoy (Padilla) a Seaman who is still a bachelor at 50 because he devotes
himself in helping his family.
Patty and Cocoy reunites in the most unexpected
way and unknowingly for Patty that Cocoy was a former batchmate from way back
in high school. Their reunion didn’t went nice as Patty became irate over Cocoy’s
being too cocky and her still stuck on her failed marriage, but unexpectedly
Patty found a company in Cocoy and eventually grew to more than just friends.
The movie
might be a common rom-com movie of Cathy Garcia-Molina, but what separates Unexpectedly
Yours from the rest of the rom com movie is that the love story revolves around
two people that are at their 50’s which I believe is a rare material for a rom
com movie since I guess we are used to seeing the younger generation play those
cheesy characters.
I expected
this movie to be good and I am not disappointed, I liked it so much coz it is
just light, the drama is there, the comic relief is there also, and of course
the “kilig”, who would’ve have thought after so many years Sharon Cuneta and
Robin Padilla can make even the younger generation “kilig” over their sweet
moments in the movie.
Though the
movie was good for me, I just felt that there are scenes in the movie that were
already unnecessary and a bit awkward.
Over all the story was good, it was light, it
was fun, and it is always a joy to watch a Cathy Garcia Molina Rom-Com.
Sharon
Cuneta delivers exceptional performance, who would’ve thought that at 50 she
still can dare to bare and still can connect to the audience form the new
generation. She made us laugh and she made us cry in this movie and I guess
this is one of her best movie that I’ve seen, it feels like this is Sharon
Cuneta Unfiltered.
Robin
Padilla is really a joy to watch, especially when it comes to comedy though he
was tagged as bad boy of Philippine showbiz, he is one of those leading men
that you will enjoy to see on the big screen. I just love how natural the way
he and Sharon played their roles, the romantic excitement feels so real that I
myself couldn’t help it.
Joshua
Garcia and Julia Barretto despite having minimal exposure in this movie they
made sure that it will be a remarkable one. Their contrasting characters like
Yanni being the grumpy and rebellious daughter of Patty and Jason being the
silly and happy go lucky niece to Cocoy, their characters were able to leave a
mark in every scene.
There’s this confrontation scene between Julia
and Sharon that was really good and I appreciated Julia’s acting prowess going
against the megastar. Meanwhile, Joshua’s character here is lighter compared to
his past role, he was able to adapt to that lovable character of Jason and I must
really say he is one of the best actors of his generation.
Over All,
Unexpectedly Yours is worthy of your time, money, and effort. It’ll give you
different feels from kilig to comedy to drama.

Vivo V7: Clearer Selfie within Your Reach (Review)
A few
months ago Vivo Philippines launched their ultimate selfie centric camera
phone, the Vivo V7+ which featured a 24 megapixel front facing camera that is
so good in taking clear selfies and groufies.
This November
18, Vivo is bringing the clearer selfie experience closer to you with the more
affordable Vivo V7, the V7 features a 5.7 inch IPS LCD Display with a 18:9
aspect ratio screen and with a 282 ppi pixel density.
The 5.7
inch screen gives out nice viewing experience, though it’s not the best I’ve
seen in the market it is decent enough for watching videos, playing games,
browsing, texting, etc.
Another thing
that I liked about the V7 is its ergonomic design, just imagine a 5.7 inch
screen packed in a 5.9 body, all corners of the screens are within the reach of
your thump and fits right into your palm, less hassle for those who got small
hands.
The V7 uses
a Snapdragon 450 same as the one on the V7+, though the 450 isn’t the flagship
chipset in the market today it fits right exactly to the V7 as it prolonged the
life span of the 3000mAh battery that powers the smartphone, on my average use
the V7 lasts for 8 to 10 hours using basic functions of the phone, taking
photos, and heavy browsing online.
The
performance of the V7 is superb, almost lag free, apps open up fast even with
lots of apps running in the background, and gaming experiences is just right
for me (I played Mobile Legends in this phone and I was satisfied with its
performance though sometimes the ). The 4GB RAM also played a good part in
making the V7 run smoothly.
Going to
the main point of this review, the Camera. The front and rear camera got a
contrasting performance for me, yes the 24 megapixel camera takes really superb
photos with or without a good lighting hands down it is one of the best selfie
camera I used although I really don’t like the beautify feature as it almost if
not erased the face of the people I’m taking a selfie with, I still prefer the
normal mode.
Okay on the
rear camera, the 16 megapixel camera didn’t deliver that well, it struggled so much
in taking good photos in lowlight condition, but with good and enough lighting
it was able to capture at least decent photos.
In taking
videos the V7 can capture 1080p videos, though it still struggles in dim light
set up and sometimes the level of noise that it captures worsen if you zoom in
the subject, but I am happy with the quality of the sound that it records plus
the speaker of the phone is also a good one despite being positioned at the
bottom part of the device.
The V7 runs
on Android 7.1.2 with Funtouch OS 3.2, I am not a fan of Android OEM’s own OS
and Funtouch wasn’t exempted to it as bloatwares floods the phone thankfully
some of the apps pre-installed in the phone can be removed and uninstalled to
free up space.
When it comes to the V7’s security features,
first the rear mounted fingerprint scanner is just so fast and very responsive,
second is the facial recognition which is nice to sometimes it is having
problem detecting my face especially when I am lying down.
To wrap things up the Vivo V7 is a good phone,
if you are looking for a phone that is ergonomic, affordable, and loves to take
selfie/groufie this one is for you. The whole experience using the phone was
above average I actually liked it, the battery last longer than I expected, the
selfie was really superb! And at Php 14999 I guess it is not bad for a midrange
device with a spec that can be on the higher end.

Review: Trip Ubusan: The Lola's vs The Zombies
Trip
Ubusan: Lola’s vs Zombies
Director:
Mark Reyes
Starring:
Jose Manalo, Paolo Ballesteros, and Wally Bayola
Genre:
Suspense, Comedy. Action
Trip Ubusan
tackles the adventure of Lola Tidora, Tinidora, and Nidora to rescue their
grandchild Charmaine (Caprice Cayetano) and to escape the impending zombie
apocalypse. From there they meet a group of survivors who took shelter in a
tourist bus, but they need to find a way to escape the zombies and find a way
to go to the safe zone before they get feasted on by the zombies.
First, the
story was really nice it was well written, well conceptualized, and well
executed, though the story is simple and not too complex still this is not your
typical horror or suspense comedy movie that is shallow and corny. In this
movie you will feel that yes, it is really a serious suspense-comedy movie, it
is following a story and there’s an adventure that will keep you at the edge of
your seats.
The mixture
of action, suspense, and comedy makes Trip Ubusan a roller coaster ride, the
producers and writers said that this is a zombie movie with a heart and yes it
really has a heart present in all of the characters in the movie.
Okay, the
zombies don’t look scary at all make up and prosthetics didn’t have any
additional scare factor, but what made the movie intense isn’t the effects or
the makeup it was the actors who gave intensity to every scene they will let
you feel the adrenaline and laughter at the same time that wouldn’t notice the
lack of the effects or make up.
In the
acting department, Wally Bayola really gave a great performance in this movie,
I sometimes feel that he is no longer Wally Bayola but he is already Lola
Nidora, the character owned him I guess he mastered how he will attack and take
on the character even on the big screen.
Jose Manalo
and Paolo Ballesteros also delivered really gave a fantastic comic skills same
as Wally, the three of them just solidified their comic trio in this movie. I
laughed too hard every scene and I can’t help it, they are really great comedians.
Among the
supporting cast the most remarkable for me is the role of Lovely Abella which is
Abe/Abby, the character was really remarkable, she was able to deliver the
character with the Ilonga accent and all, I love her character.
Lastly, I
would like to praise whoever the fight choreographer in this movie is, the
fight and chase scenes were really good that you wouldn’t even think Jose,
Paolo, and Wally will do those action scenes.
Overall, this movie is really good, it will make you laugh, will make you cry, and will leave you at the edge of your seat, whether you are laughing or you are feeling the intensity of the movie. I could say that this movie is an MMFF caliber film, because if you will watch it you will not feel sorry for you Php250 or so.

Satan's Slave
It has been thirty five (35) years since the original cult-classic, Satan’s Slave was released in 1982.Director Joko Anwar was mesmerized and completely terrified by it upon sneaking up in a theatre to watch it when he was a kid. He has been lobbying Rapi Films to give him the directing duties if ever they decide to remake it. Fortunately for him, they did.
The original version, released in 1980, still haunts the nightmares of many Indonesians today. The film, a low-budget spectacle directed by Sisworo Gautama Putra, is still one of the best of the bloody, gruesome, and insane Indonesian exploitation movies made by production houses like Rapi Films.
The film has been called “the scariest Indonesian horror film of all time,” “scary as sh*t” and “another gem of horror” from various websites. Truly, Satan’s Slaves will be marked as one of the most unforgettable horror movie experience once seen.
Pengabdi Setan was a mashup of exorcism, zombie, and morality horror. In the film, a mother returns to her home to pick up her children after her death from a strange illness that she suffered for three years.
The film stars Tara Basro, Bront Palarae, Endy Arfian and Indonesian Film Festival 2017 Best Child Actor Muhammad Adhiyat.
“Satan’s Slaves” opens in Philippine cinemas November 29, 2017 from Rapi Films and CJ Entertainment, locally distributed by Rafaella Films International and Axinite Digicinema, Inc.

Achieving The GSM Blue Body with Myrtle Gail
Myrtle Sarrosa confessed that
she doubted herself at first when she was offered to model for the GSM Blue
calendar. But later on, the Kapamilya actress realized that being sexy goes
beyond the physical attributes of a woman and how the society defines it so she
accepted the offer from Ginebra. It paved the way for a new chapter in her life
to unfold.
“I had to commit to a healthy
diet, working out three to five times a week and getting enough sleep. I don’t
want to just lose weight. If you just skip eating for days, you’ll definitely
lose weight but I don’t want to do that. I wanted to make sure that I was
losing it the right way and making sure that my health is still high priority.
I’m sure that a lot of people are going to be looking at me so I don’t want to
promote anything that’s unhealthy,” she stated.
