#NCAA91 Day 12: JRU Wins Third Straight, San Beda Gets Solo Second.
In the first game, the JRU Heavy Bombers blasts off the CSB Blazers 67-49, to take their third straight victory.
It was a close first quarter for the two squad as the Blazers led the Heavy Bombers 12-9 with less than 5 minutes left in the first, but in the second quarter JRU were able to pull away ending it with a 39-22 over CSB, the Blazers were not able to contain the scoring and the defense of the Heavy Bombers producing only 9pts in the third with a 55-31 lead by JRU.
Teytey Teodoro again steps up for the Heavy Bombers leading the scoring with 21pts, 8rbds, 2asts, and 3stls. meanwhile JR Ongteco and Alfonso Saavedra both scored 10pts for the Blazers.

In the second game, the San Beda Red Lions escapes past the Perpetual Help Altas 83-81.
It was a neck to neck battle between the Red Lions and the Altas exchanging lead every quarter, It was an intense game specially in the fourth quarter when the Altas started to trim down the 65-54 lead of San Beda to just 65-63 with less than 7 minutes remaining.
Thompson was able to trim down the lead to just one point at 76-75 but Dan Sara fired an open three keeping a two possession ball game for the Red Lion with less than 2 minutes remaining. The last 6.8 seconds was the longest one for both squads with San Beda leading by just two with the Altas in Possession. Thompson passes the ball for a quick three point play but Sorela was able to steal the ball and get a foul with 5.2 seconds left, Thompson had a chance to trim the lead with just a single point but he misses one of the three charities given to him.
Art Dela Cruz again led the scoring for the Red Lions producing 25 points, 17 rebounds,6 assists and one steal, meanwhile Bright Akhuetie scored 25 points also for the Altas in losing efforts.

UAAP Season 78 Opening Weekend Schedule
Today, the University Athletics Association of the Philippines released the Opening weekend of the 78th season of the UAAP happening at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao and at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Opening day will be on September 5 that's a Saturday, at 1pm will be the opening ceremony led by this seasons' hosts the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons. At 2pm the first game of the season will be between the UP Fighting Maroons and the University of the East Red Warriors, and at 4pm the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers versus the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, the venue will be at the Araneta Coliseum.
On the second day of the opening weekend September 6, at 2pm The Defending Champions National University Bulldogs will open their title defense against the De La Salle University Green Archers, followed by last years Runners Up Far Eastern University Tamaraws will battle the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles. The venue will be at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Game will be broadcasted live on ABSCBN Sports+Action Channel 23, Ticket Prices and the Full schedule will be posted as soon as they release it.

In the Friday Triple Header of the NCAA. The Mapua Cardinals gets back on the winning track after a 29 point victory against the EAC Generals 101-72 in the first game.
It was a dominant win for the Cardinals as the lead the Generals through out the game, the huge third quarter run by Mapua left EAC behind by 18 points to begin the fourth quarter.
Former Rookie of the Year Josan Nimes lead the scoring for the Cardinals with 18 points, adding to that is Stephen Que's 17 points. on the side of the Generals Hamadou Laminou and Francis Munsayac scored 16 and 15 points respectively.
Mapua now has a 2-3, while EAC is still winless after 5 games.

JRU started the game strong leading Lyceum 21-10 in the first, 37-29 in the second, and 50-40 at the end of the third. Lyceum tried to close in the middle of the fourth quarter at 52-47 but Teytey Teodoro started a scoring spree scoring 14 out of his 25 points in the middle part of the fourth quarter to seal the victory for JRU.
Teytey Teodoro scored 25 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals, while Joseph Gabayni top scored for the Pirates with 15 points.

The huge fourth quarter run by the Chiefs made it difficult for the Stags to catch, even with Spencer Pretta's back to back three was no match to the sharp shooting guards of Arellano that fires three from every corner of the court kept the lead of the chiefs by as much as 10.
Dioncee Holts led the scoring for Arellano with 21 points while Zach Nichols, Don Gumaru, Allen Enriquez, and Michael Salado added 13 points each for the Chiefs. On the side of San Sebastian Bradwyn Guinto, Michael Calisaan, and Jamil Ortuoste scored 26, 20. and 17 points for the Stags.
Arellano moves up to 4-1, while San Sebastiain goes down to 1-4.

In the Thursday match up of NCAA Season 91, the San Beda Red Lions gets win number four after beating the CSB Blazers 73-67.
San Beda opens the game with a huge 20-8 lead over the College of Saint Benilde in the first quarter. Showing they are not anymore affected with the absence of Baser Amer, the Red Lions continue to lead the Blazers at the end of the first half with a 41-28 lead. Ola Adeogun made an early double double performance of 16 points and 12 rebounds to end the second quarter.
In the third quarter the CSB Blazers were able to caught up with the Red Lions making a 20-9 run to trim down the lead of San Beda to 50-48 at the end of the third, but San Beda opens the fourth period with their own 11-0 lead making it a 61-48 lead.
Ola Adeogun scored his season high 25 points and 13 rebounds, while Jonathan Grey and Alfonso Saavedra produced 16 and 15 points respectively for the Blazers in losing efforts.

Mark Cruz and Rey Nambatac poured in 15 points each to secure the top spot and undefeated record of the knights, meanwhile the 22 point performance of reigning MVP Earl Thompson didn't materialized as it failed to keep the Perps on top.

#NCAA91 Day 9: San Beda Bounces Back, Letran Stays Undefeated
In the ninth day of action in the 91st season of the NCAA, the San Beda Red Lions bounces back from their lost against Letran by routing the Lyceum Pirates 97-74.
Though the Red Lions struggles in the beginning of the game,though they are leading at 17-11 with 2:49 seconds left in the first they were able to shake off the jitters that prevented them to start the game strong to end the first quarter with 27-14 lead over the Pirates.
The Red Lions were able to pull away early in the second quarter pushing the lead up to 31-19 lead with 7:17 seconds left in the game. In the third quarter Lyceum tried to close in but the offense and defense of San Beda is really working ending it with a huge 13 point lead 70-57.
Bench Players took over in the fourth giving a 10-2 run though lyceum were able to make their own 6-0 run at 82-67 they were not able to contain San Beda's offense as the lead ballooned to a 95-71 lead over Lyceum with less than a minute left in the game.
Art Dela Cruz again spearheaded the offense of the Red Lions scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. meanwhile Guy Mbida scored 13 points for the Pirates in losing efforts. San Beda goes 3-1 while Lyceum drops to 1-3.

It was almost victory for the Stags leading the Knights from the 1st up to the 3rd quarter, but San Sebastian's offense and defense collapsed less than two minutes before the game ends giving away their lead as Letran ties the game at 73-all, Jamil Ortuoste fires up a 3 to get the lead back to the Stags at 73-76 with less than a minute left in the game but a huge 3 point shot plus a foul given by Mark Cruz snatches the lead back to the knights at 77-76 with still 50 seconds left in the game, t that point San Sebastian's offense and defense didn't work as Rey Nambatac scored 5 straight points to seal the victory for the knights.
Mark Cruz stellar performance producing 29 big points, adding Rey Nambatac's 20 point outing pushed the comeback of Letran Knights, Jamil Ortuoste scored 25 points for the San Sebastian Stags. Letran joins the Perps on top with 4-0 record while Baste drops to 1-3.

#NCAA91 Day 8: Perpetual Help Still Immaculate, JRU Bounces Back, Arellano Survives OT
In the first game of Friday triple header of the NCAA, The Perpetual Help Altas keeps their Immaculate record after defeating the San Sebastian Stags 84-70.
It was almost a close game between the Altas and the Stags ending every quarter with a single digit lead for the Altas, but the latter were able to pull away in the last three minutes of regulation the single digit lead became a comfortable 80-67 lead for Perpetual over San Sebastian.
Another MVP performance was showcased by reigning MVP as he led the Altas with 21 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assist, while Bright Akhuetie added 20 points and 23 rebounds for Perpetual Help. on the other hand Ryan Costelo led the Stags with 18 points, while Bradwyn Guinto and Alvin Capobres added 13 points each for San Sebastian.
The Altas goes 4-0, while the Stags drops to 1-2.

After suffering back to back loss the JRU Heavy Bombers finally bounces back after beating the EAC Generals 67-47.
After a close first half ending at 35-28, the Generals entered the second half looking diorganized as they let the Heavy Bombers pull away finishing the 3rd period at 51-35, in the fourth period EAC were only able to produce 12 points making it easy for JRU to pull away and get their second victory.
Abdel Poutouchi led the Heavy Bombers in keeping the Generals winless after after four games, producing 15 points, on the hand Sidney Onwubere led the Generals with 10 points and 17 rebounds.

It was a neck to neck battle between the Chiefs and the Cardinals ending the first three quarters at 20-20, 36-38, 64-66 with Mapua leading, in the 4th quarter Arellano were able to take over the lead with 81-79 with 1 minute left in the game, but a floater by Josan Nimes ties the game at 81-all. Arellano could have won the game via the big three by Zach Nichols with 22 seconds left in the game pushing the Chiefs at 84-81 but a three by Exequiel Biteng tied the game at 84-all to force an overtime. In the overtime period Arellano held on to their steady defense to held on to their lead though Biteng again was able to tie the game at 89 a piece, the Chiefs still went away to get their third win.
Gilas Cadet Jovanie Jalalon exploded 26 points, while Dioncee Holts finally scored big with 25 points for the Chiefs. Alwell Oraeme and Josan Nimes led the way for the Cardinals with 18 and 17 points respectively.

#NCAA91 Day 7: Lyceum Gets First Win, Letran Beats Arch Rivals
On Day 7 of action in the 91st season of the NCAA, finally Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates notches their first win via the expense of the College of Saint Benilde Blazers 72-69.
It was a close game between Lyceum and CSB though the Pirates led the Blazers the whole game until Jonathan Grey fires up back to back threes in the latter part of the 4th quarter to spark the run of the blazers and took over the driver seat, but Noah Lugo and Shaq Alanes were able to keep the game close for the pirates at 67-66.
A big three point shot by Jonathan Grey almost seal the deal for the Blazers with less the 20 seconds left in the game at 69-67, but a bigger three point shot by Shaq Alanes gave the lead for the Pirates at 70-69 with 6.7 seconds left in the game, Grey tried to tie the game but his shot missed with 2.2 seconds left, Joseph Gabayni sealed the game for Lyceum with his 2 free throws at 72-69.
Shaq Alanes top scored Lyceum in their first victory with 18 points, meanwhile Jonathan Grey poured in 19 points for CSB. The Pirates now has a 1-2 record while the Blazers drops to 1-3.

In the second game between the arch rivals San Beda Red Lions and Letran Knights, Defense is the key for Letran to beat San Beda 93-80.
It's their unorthodox defense gave Letran a huge advantage over San Beda the whole game,The Knights were able to shut down the offense and defense of the Red Lions, starting off with a 17-4 lead early in the first quarter, even at the end of the 2nd half San Beda's struggle continue as the knights outscored them producing 31 points out of their 52 in the 2nd quarter while San Beda only scored 32 points in the whole 1st half of the game.
The Red Lions were able to closed in in the 4th quarter at 66-72 but the strong defense of the Knights didn't let them lead the whole game,
Letran's veteran guard Mark Cruz gave a solid performance knocking off many threes to keep San Beda at the bay scoring 16 points and another veteran Kevin Racal top scored the Knights with 20 points. Meanwhile San Beda's veteran guard Baser Amer unfortunately dislocated his shoulder early in the 2nd quarter, this added the problem to the Red Lions as their go to guy got injured and they can't even find a solution to the defense and offense of the Knights, Ola Adeogun and Art Dela Cruz were left to led San Beda with 20 and 18 points respectively.
Letran stays undefeated at 3-0 while San Beda gets their 1st loss and now down to 2-1.

After almost a week of hiatus due to inclement weather condition, the NCAA returns to action yesterday with the Arellano Chiefs defeating the EAC Generals 92-80 to get their 2nd win in the tournament.
It was a close game in the end with EAC getting close to Arellano in the last 5 minutes of the regulation but Jiovani Jalalon after a so-so performance in their first two games finally break the ice in his performance posting a triple double stats of 12 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds to help the Chiefs pull away and beat the Generals.
Aside from Jalalon, Zach Nichols top scored the Chiefs with 18 points, while on the side of the Generals it's Sidney Onwubere scored 26 points.
Arellano Chiefs is now at 2-1 record, while EAC dropped their 3rd straight assignment and remained winless.

Nokia's Statement Regarding Their Return To Mobile Device Manufacturing
a few hours ago Nokia through their Twitter Account gives out their statement regarding their return to the Mobile Phone industry. Robert Morlino, Nokia Technologies spokesman said in the statement that currently Nokia's return to Mobile Manufacturing is still complicated stating the deal between them and Microsoft last ear that took away their Mobile Manufacturing Arm, not only the manufacturing but also the marketing, sales and customer support were included on that deal.
Currently according to Morlino, the company is still in search of a world class company that can be their licensed partner in producing smartphones to be released at the end of 2016.

In the first game of the day 5 of NCAA season 91 men's basketball tournament, the College of Saint Benilde Blazers finally notches their first win over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals 73-66.
The hungry and determined Blazers started of the match leading the first quarter with a huge lead over the Generals throughout the game though the General were able to get close in the last minute of the match at 59-65, the Blazers held on to their lead to bag their 1st victory after 2 lopsided loss.

In the 2nd game, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas escape past the pesky defense of Mapua Cardinals as they bag their 3rd straight win 82-79 to gain the solo lead.
Earl Thompson led the Altas with a double double performance of 9 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, while Bright Akhuetie led the Altas in scoring producing 24 big points. on the other hand Josan Nimes and Alwell Oraeme contributed with 16 and 15 points respectively for the Cardinals in losing effort.
UPHSD secures a 3-0 record while Mapua drops to 1-2 win-loss record.

#NCAA91 Day 4: Chiefs Gets First Win, Altas and Kights Shared The Top Spot
In the 4th day of action in the seniors basketball division of the NCAA. In the first game of the Friday Triple Header, the Arellano University Chiefs were able to snatch their first win this season in the expense of the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates 80-78.
It was a big first half for the Chiefs ending it with a huge 51-35 lead over the Pirates, however the Pirates were able to turn things around in the 2nd half to close in to the Chiefs and almost tied the game to over time.
Jovanie Jalalon already shook off all of the opening day jitters and led the Arellano Chiefs with 20 points, adding to that is Nichols 16 points. On the side of the Lyceum Pirates, Joseph Gabayni and Shaq Alanes led the scoring with 20 points each.
Arellano is now at 1-1, while Lyceum goes 0-2.

It was a close game in the first half but a 17-0 run by Letran in the end of the 3rd quarter made the difference as they led JRU 63-49. In the 4th quarter JRU were not able to catch up with the defense of and offense of Letran until the end of regulation.
Rey Nambatac top scored the knights with 25 points, while Paolo Pontejos led the heavy bombers with 11 points. Letran is now with 2-0 record while JRU drops to 1-1.

The San Beda Red Lions easily demolished the EAC Generals 108-80 earlier today in their match up in the 3rd day of action in the 91st season of the NCAA at the Arena in San Juan.
Senior Player Art Dela Cruz fueled the Red Lions to get win number 2 with a 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assist to led San Beda in their 2nd straight victory.
This game also marked the return of Ola Adeogun and Baser Amer this season, Adeogun scored 12 points while Amer scored only 3 points.
On the other side Francis Munsayac top scored with 20 points in losing efforts for the Generals, EAC now drops to 0-2 meanwhile San Beda goes 2-0.

Returning Player Andretti Stevens became the game changer, as he was the spark that the cardinals are looking for in the first half. Stevens provided intense defense alongside with Oraeme specially in the last few minutes of the game that really gave the Stags a hard time to score.
Former Rookie of the Year Josan Nimes top scored the Cardinals with 20 points, adding to that is Mark Brana's 18 points to seal the 1st win of Mapua this season. Jamil Ortuoste and Michael Calisaan scored 21 and 19 points respectively for the Stags.
The Mapua Cardinals goes 1-1 as the San Sebastian Golden Stags drops their first assignment this season going 0-1.

Produced by GMA Public Affairs and set to premiere this July 18, To The Top is a twice a week reality-talent development program featuring 18 young and very talented boys that will vie for the chance to become part of GMA's newest boy band.
Helping the program to hone the talents of these 18 boys are some of the county's top performer and artists, starting of with the leader of the pack Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, he will serve as the main judge for the whole competition.
Joining Mr C, are the vocal coaches from one of the country's premier vocal ensemble "The CompanY" Moy Ortiz, Sweet Plantado, and OJ Mariano; next up are the dance coaches, former members of the Philippine All Stars Madelle and Prince Paltu-ob, also part of the dance coaches is Jesse Gotangco who is an international break dancing champion; last but definitely not the least among the mentors are the Sound Squad of musical arrangers and sound engineers led by Jonathan Ong, Chino David, Chrisantony Vinzons, and Brian Lotho from the Sonic State Studio.
To The Top's process of picking up their contestants is far from the common open audition, they hand picked and invited the best vocals from different schools and organizations to try their luck to get in the top 18.
To The Top already began airing last June 25 on GMA's website www.gmanetwork.com/tothetop, the program's webisodes are hosted by Julian Trono, the audition process and the first few sneak peek of what's going on with the aspiring talented boys in their journey going To The Top.
After series of auditions, the program announced its 25 finalist, which were later cutted down to 14. Adding a twist the management launched an online wildcard voting for the netizens to decide who among the 11 eliminated contestants will be part of the Top 18.
The Top 18 To The Top Artists are AJ Ajrouche, Lance Busa, Ken Carpena, Mico Cruz, Cholo Dela Cruz, Martin de Vera, Luis Gragera, Joshua Jacobe, MJ Magno, Miko Manguba, Seph Manlapaz, Bryan Olano, JP Palanca, Adrian Pascual, Louie Pedroso, Lharby Policarpio, Edric Ulang and Chris Yumang.
The 18 contestants will be divided into 3 groups that will have 6 members each, that will be housed together and undergo rigorous training under their coaches for their weekly performances and evaluation
