Love Forecast

Few months after it was launched, Sine Asia in partnership with Viva Films and SM Cinemas will bring to you their first ever Korean Film Festival where the best Korean movies are dubbed in Tagalog. The festival will run starting this July until August this year, and the 1st movie is Love Forecast (Coming Soon).

Love Forecast is a romantic comedy movie that tackles the "Confusing stage" in a relationship, it is the part where two people do things that are often done by couples but they are actually just friends in short "Friend Zoned",

The movie tells the story of Jun-su played by Lee Seung Gi and Hyeon-woo played by Moon Chae Won, they have been friends for over 18 years, Jun-Su is kind, good looking, and has a stable job as an elementary school teacher. However he always gets dumped by women he dates, meanwhile Hyeon-Woo is an popular weather reporter, she is cute and sweet in front of other people, but is rough, often drunk, and cries over her life whenever he is with Jun-Su. When they were still young , Jun-Su confessed his feelings to Hyeon-Woo but he was ignored by the latter but still his feelings still remain after 18 years.

Love Forecast is dubbed in Tagalog by Viva Artists; Donnalyn Bartolome as Hyeon-Woo and Joshua Padilla as Jun-Su. Love Forecast is set to be shown on July 17.

Just The Way You Are

After their successful teleserye, Forevermore lead stars and this years' break out love team Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil is coming to the big screen via the movie "Just The Way You Are" based on the wattpad story "The Bet" written by Kim Villanueva. 

"When Drake(Gil) lost in a bet between him and his best friend, he was obliged to court Sophia(Soberano) for a month as a consequence after losing the bet. Not knowing that Sophia has been already in love with him, Drake finally decides to tell the truth, but how will Sophia accept the fact that what she thought to be real all this time was just for a game"

The National Collegiate Athletics Association of the Philippines announced today their return to ABSCBN Sports after the NCAA Mancom inks a 10 year partnership deal with ABSCBN awhile ago at the 9501 restaurant, The move was part of the reform for the new decade that was planned years ago, it's also said that many changes will be coming as the season of progresses. 

The oldest sports league in the country is celebrating their 91st season this year with a theme of "Engineered for Sports and Excellence in the New Decade", the men's basketball tournament will begin on June 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena at 12pm followed by the 1st game between this years' Host the Mapua Cardinals against the 5 peat defending champions San Beda Red Lions, after that Arellano and JR will battle it out on the second game 

The schedule will be back to the 2011 format where in the games are played during Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2pm for the 1st game and 4pm for the 2nd, televised live by ABSCBN Sports and Action. I will post the full schedule of the whole tournament as soon as I get it.

Movie Review: Para Sa Hopeless Romantic

Plot

The Movie begins with Ryan is running late going to PUP for his class where Maria is his classmate, thinking that he would be punished again by their terror professor if he gets to class late Ryan hurriedly run upstairs only to find out that they don't have a class, he texted Maria upon realizing that their class will be tomorrow. Then Ryan reminisces the first time he saw Maria and the first time he got punished by their Professor.

Here comes the real day of their class Ryan wished that He and Maria will be thesis partners, but to no avail, he was not instead Maria was paired with what Ryan thought to be Maria's crush Samuel, as day passes by Ryan's jealousy grow and affected their friendship, until the sad fate came when Ryan got into an accident and died without telling Maria his feelings 

Here comes Becca narrating the story of Ryan and Maria, still bitter with her ex Nicco Becca decides to write the ending of her story that way since she doesn't believe in Happy Endings but the story was rejected by the Editor in Chief of the college new paper.

Then on one her class Becca got interested in chatting a mystery person using the armchair, her and the mystery man exchanges thoughts and chatted on the piece of wood that even their classmates got interested in it, then Becca finally agreed with Jackie to meet up with the mystery man on the gym only to find Nicco there. And so Nicco confronted Becca there and then he told her about him still being in love with her, but Becca refuses to listen and walked away.

Meanwhile Nicco still devastated with his breakup with Becca, he locked himself out playing video games, until RJ introduced Faye to him, they became a couple Nicco thought he was over with Becca but still he hasn't moved on with Becca that cost his relationship with Faye,

Here comes the student protest all the chairs were pulled out of the rooms and was about to be destroyed when Becca and Nicco found themselves looking for the chair where they are chatting, and revealed that they were the ones who are chatting on the same chair. At that point Nicco finally was able to explained the reason why he broke up with Becca same as Becca explaining why she is mad with Nicco,

The two reconciled in the middle of the rally and they get back in each others arms again, feeling the love again Becca changes the fate of Maria and Ryan's Character in the story that instead of someone dying, like Nicco and Becca, Maria and Ryan deserves a Happy Ending too.

Para Sa Hopeless Romantic stars Julia Barretto as Maria, Inigo Pascual as Ryan, James Reid as Nikko, and Nadine Lustre as Becca, also part of the cast are AJ Muhlach as RJ, Shy Carlos as Jackie, The movie was directed by Andoy Ranay, adapted from the  of Novel of the same title written by Marcelo Santos III, and produced by Viva Films and Star Cinema. The film was graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

The film was actually good for a story that focuses on more than two lead characters, though I find the movie a bit "bitin" and the story too predictable since the story line is about finding a happy ending. I like the way Direk Andoy put some new elements in the movie like the sketch on some scenes that place more drama without the actors exaggerating on their acting,

With the acting, Julia and Inigo really delivers well in this movie, being part of the lead characters, Julia really got the talent  well it runs in the family I guess, meanwhile even though Inigo delivers well he really needs improvement since he sometimes tends to deliver his line plain and emotionless, though their chemistry really gives "Kilig" there are more rooms for improvement for the both of them.

On the other hand James and Nadine as usual sends the "kilig" to the fans, but this movie is not their best, I am not saying that they are not good in this movie, but maybe because the movie was not all about them and their characters are not like their past roles in TBYD and DNP since their character are really in search of a happy ending and how to move on, though I like the transition of their love story from love to hate to love again plus the ending.

One character that stands out is the role of Shy Carlos, the way she delivers the character is very natural and the character suits her well, bubbly and tactless she was like the light on the dark part of Nadine's character.

The movie, like any other mainstream movie from Star Cinema, of course it has its own scenes with product placement, and I hate the fact that because of these product placement some scenes are messed up, particularly the scene in the fast food restaurant where Becca and Jackie are reminiscing Becca's past relationship with Nicco, I just find the scene very plain it's like watching the scene on a black backdrop, it's just boring and lifeless

When it comes to the camera angles, I like the scenes of Julia Barretto, it's like every time the camera focuses on her the scene goes in slow motion. I should say the best scene was the ending the it's very cinematic and well sweet.

Another thing that annoyed me is the dubbing, specially in the scenes where Julia and Inigo are eating in the cafeteria, I haven't seen anyone that can talk straight with her mouth is full in short the dubbed voice lacks in material it's like she's reading it with emotion but lacked in acting.

All in all I give "Para Sa Hopeless Romantic" 8 out 10, If you are the type of a movie goer that prefers a complicated love story this is for you, but don't worry like what I said the story is common but I think the actors and the director gave their best efforts to make this beautiful movie that will make you fall in love, cry, laugh and of course kilig. It 's worth your money.
