Review: My Perfect You

My Perfect You

Starring: Pia Wurtzbach and Gerald Anderson

Directed by: Cathy Garcia Molina

Genre: Romance, Drama, Comedy

Okay, first things first, this review might be a spoiler if you haven't watched the movie.

_________________________________________

My Perfect You tackles the story of Burn (Gerald), a graphic designer who has an almost perfect life not until everything falls apart for him as he was dumped by his girlfriend. Burn felt burned out with his life as problems came left and right leaving him with no choice but to escape and because of that he met Abi (Pia) a resort owner where burn got lost in.

Abi is a bubbly, happy go lucky, but strong willed woman. She is up for the challenge of making Burn happy again until one day they realized that they didn't just made each other instead they fell for each other.

Everything seemed to be okay with Burn again, he is starting to recover from the rejection and heartbreaks, but things turned around as their love story completely 360 degrees from reality, will Burn face reality or will he use Abi to escape from it?

My Perfect You is a sugar coated bitter sweet movie, at first the movie seems to be a typical Cathy Garcia-Molina rom-com movie but I was wrong this is the first time I watched a movie that made me feel relaxed at the start of the movie and then will surprised me in the end, I felt that the movie was disguised and has two personalities that tricked me to ride the roller coaster of emotions that this movie built.

I commend the writer Christine Gabriel for writing this story, I guess I can say that this movie is a unique one for Star Cinema.

Going back to the movie at first I thought the movie looked rushed as some scenes looked weird and out of place, but I realized that those scenes adds up to the climax and the ending. I was actually amazed on how the movie brought us inside that realm that Burn created that we forgot what had happened before the two characters met each other.

What I love the most in "My Perfect You" is that it raises awareness to certain mental health issues such as schizophrenia and depression, I felt that it is very timely specially in our society today where mental health isn't much of a priority and also I love how the movie showed how these mental illness are treated and how big the role of the family in treating these kinds of illness.

I may not be a psychiatrist, but I believe the movie was able to explain what is schizophrenia and the treatment to cure it in the easiest manner for the movie goers to understand.

On the acting side, first, all of the characters and actors delivered well from the leads down to the support cast they were all amazing.

Pia Wurtzbach surprised me because even though this is her first lead in a movie, she was able to deliver such a versatile performance, she really did gave life to the character of Abi, who is light adorable, and cute, balancing the negativity and darkness of the character of Burn. Pia can be who ever we want her to be.

Gerald Anderson on the other hand though he was really de-glamorized in this movie he was able to give justice to the character of Burn, he was owned by the character of burn it was far from Gerald, it was far from other characters he portrayed before, the darkness of the character really showed up and I believe he was able to deliver his best in this movie.

I also like to praise Dimples Romana for bringing an A game for her character Elaine, I was really moved by her character specially in that one special scene in the bathroom that really made me emotional as well.

To wrap things up My Perfect You is a romantic movie in disguise, it is a roller coaster ride of emotions that will bring you to the Happy Sunshine Camp. This is worthy of your money, the perfect movie to open up the summer season, an unconventional movie with an unconventional story in an unconventional characters that will make you believe that you can be whoever you want to be.

Vivo takes HDR to a new level with a dynamic range of 14 EV that adapts to complex lighting

Shenzhen, China, 13 March 2018 – Vivo announced its cutting-edge, AI-powered Super HDR at a media event in China. Following the previous breakthrough success in backlit photography, Vivo is taking mobile photography to new heights with Super HDR’s auto scene detection to produce clearer photos, better colors, more details and better tones.
Super HDR follows the same principles as regular HDR but merges more frames to resolve the problems presented by contrasting strong dark and light tones in a photo. Super HDR captures more frames and intelligently merges them to cater to more extreme lighting scenarios.
Great Frames Great Flexibility
Super HDR’s dynamic range can reach up to 14 EV (Exposure Value). With just a single press of the shutter, Super HDR will capture up to 12 frames, significantly more frames than previously possible with existing HDR technology. This provides more image options for merging to perfectly light all the parts of the eventual photo.

Optimized Details Under Extreme Light
To reduce the unnaturally processed look of regular HDR, Super HDR adapts to different scenes and their dynamic range characteristics, selecting and merging frames to best render the image’s highlights and shadow details. Super HDR then optimizes shadows to ensure the complex photo’s highlights and shadows are balanced and natural.

Get Easy Yet Perfect People Shots
Regular HDR might sacrifice lighting for the person in focus for a better lit photo, but Super HDR ensures the person is clear and well-lit. Super HDR employs smart scene detection to balance the lighting of the person and the background to create a natural feel.

Advanced AI Improves Photos at All Stages
The Super HDR leverages complex AI algorithms to adapt to different scenarios. The moment the shutter is pressed, the AI will detect the scene to determine the ideal exposure strategy and accordingly select the frames for merging. This process ultimately delivers a natural looking shot which looks like it was captured by the human eye.

Advantages of Super HDR
  1. Highly adaptable: With a wider dynamic range of 14EV, Super HDR can ensure perfect shots in a broader range of lighting scenarios, even in adverse ones. This results in image that shows the details of the rock, grass, mountains and clouds despite the back lit, high contrast scenario.

  1. Accurate and smart exposure selection: At up to 12 frames, Super HDR has more lighting options for its smart frame selecting strategies to correctly expose all parts of the photo. This retains the natural contrast that is key to accent the features of this photo.
  1. Intelligent identification: AI-powered scene detection means that each part of the photo can be identified and isolated for processing to insure even complex photos are perfected. The AI can perfectly identify and expose the unique shapes of these rocks, moss, waves and clouds in this shot.
  1. Natural looking results: Super HDR produces more natural tones by reorganizing and optimizing the highlights and shadow portions of the scene when merging the frames and ensures the photo naturally matches the original scene as seen by human eye. This shows the couple clearly and naturally despite sun and umbrella creating such complex lighting.
  1. Perfectly lit portraits: Super HDR prioritizes the best lighting for the person in the photo and adjusts the background exposure to produce an optimal and natural portrait. Optimizing the lighting for the girl and creating complimentary lighting of the sky and flowers help accentuate her in the photo for a perfectly lit portrait.

Alex Feng, Senior Vice President at Vivo added that, “Vivo continues to push the boundaries and provide the ultimate camera experience for consumers. This goes beyond just adding powerful functions, but to developing innovations that our users can immediately enjoy. Today’s showcase of Super HDR is an example of our continued commitment to mobile photography, to enable our consumers to shoot professional quality photos at the touch of a button. Using intelligent AI, Super HDR can capture more detail under any conditions, without additional demands on the user.”

Pia Wurtzbach's Journey To The Perfect Universe

16 years ago a girl once dreamed to become an actress to provide for her mom and younger sister, that girl named Pia Romero was once in the same level with the likes of Bea Alonzo was left behind because the break that is meant for her came 16 years after, the once bit player and three time beauty pageant hopeful is now a queen.

"There were moments na where I thought na hindi talaga yan para sa akin, but then I realized that if you keep thinking about it, if you cannot forget it maybe it's something meant for you to pursue" Pia said when asked if there was a time she felt burned out in waiting for her break in showbizness.

Pia was launched along with Bea Alonzo and Angelene Aguilar in the youth oriented show "K2BU" back in 2002, but sadly her career didn't rose to fame as her next projects were either supporting roles or bit player.

In 2013, Pia decided to joined Binibining Pilipinas Gold the 50th edition of the pageant, she was one of the front runner that year but she ends up placing 1st runner up to Ariella Arida and in 2014 she joined again and many thought she will finally take home the Miss Universe-Philippines crown because she had her look, performance, and walk polished she is the girl to beat that year, but sadly she went home empty handed.

Rumors even surfaced that she might not join Binibini again, there were also rumors that she will join other pageants, but those were debunked when Pia appeared in the final day of screening of Binibining Pilipinas 2015.

When asked if she think she is the perfect candidate that year Pia answered "I might not have been perfect in other people's eyes, in fact alot of people were questioning why I even won that night because of alot of things", "Hindi ako Miss Universe ready noon body wise, (pero) yun yung year na  pinaka masaya ako sa pageant"

Pia also shared what she thinks why she didn't won in  her first and second attempt in Binibini "Yung first na sali ko gigil na gigil akong manalo ang payat payat ko tapos first time ko, nung second ko mas gigil pa ako kasi nag first runner pa ko the year before sabi ko dapat eto na", "Tapos nung third try ko naisip ko "alam mo ienjoy ko na lang" hindi ko papahirapan yung sarili ko" and thus she ended up bagging the crown finally saying "Hindi man ako perfect sa mata ng maraming tao that night it was perfect for me because I was happy".

When she won as Miss Universe-Philippines in 2015 was another story as her bashers went from local to worldwide as even other pageant fans around the world, the universe rather went on to bash and to make issues out her, but Pia worked her way out to prove those bashers wrong as she ended up winning Miss Universe that year in a controversial way.

On dealing with Bashers this days Pia  "I always tell myself if it comes from people that I don't really know then it shouldn't affect me, (but) if it comes to somebody I respect then I should listen".

Pia now enjoys the fruit of the bitter sweet 16 years as she is having all the things she wished and she dreamed of back when she was a child now she is an international model, celebrity endorse, an ambassadress.

She was also asked if she is still hoping for an international/Hollywood debut, Pia just keeps her hopes up as she is still busy with her commitments with Miss Universe as their ambassador and she even revealed that she declined an offer to join Big Brother US this year as she is currently busy doing her launching movie under Star Cinema entitled "My Perfect You" along with Gerald directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, coming to cinemas this March 14!

Camille Prats returns to acting via GMA Morning serye Ang Forever Ko'y Ikaw

Weekday mornings with the whole family will be more exciting as GMA Network brings to light a romantic-comedy series that both parents and kids can enjoy with the launch of Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw.

Slated to premiere on March 12, this program is headlined by Camille Prats-Yambao and Neil Ryan Sese together with Ayra Mariano and Bruno Gabriel.

Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw revolves around the lives of Ginny played by Camille and Lance portrayed by Neil: two single parents who are still both attached to their past but are hoping to somehow get a new chance at love. Their lives are almost intertwined since they live in the same condo; have the same taste in coffee; and they even follow each other's 'alter-ego' accounts online.

Camille said she loves how the show instils its message to the viewers when it comes to love.

“You know I think the really good part about this show is yung message nila tungkol sa love and how it will tell us that love finds you. And that you don’t really have to find it. Kasi darating ‘yan sa’yo at the right time and right place,” the Kapuso actress said.

On the other hand, Neil shared that he is still adjusting to his new role as Lance as he was used to portraying character roles in his previous shows.

“Nakakapanibago. Challenge siya for me kasi sobrang iba talaga yung role ko rito. Unlike kapag kontrabida ka iba yung pag deliver mo ng lines. Dapat palaging mabigat. Dito, I need to tone it down talaga,” he said.

But what if the two would never meet? Would they still be able to find their way back to love?

The story also highlights their journey as single parents including the challenges and accomplishments they encounter as they take care of their children Marione portrayed by Ayra andBenjie played by Bruno.

Ayra plays the daughter of Ginny. The Kapuso actress said she’s grateful to GMA for entrusting her this project and is equally happy to be working again with Bruno.

“I am very thankful sa Network na binigyan kami ng chance na ipakita ‘yung kakayahan namin. At the same time, excited ako kasi magkatrabaho na naman kami ni Bruno. Very comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa kaya I know this project is going to be amazing,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bruno is Lance’s only son in the series who supports his dad’s ordeals. Bruno said he is looking forward to be working with Camille and Neil because he knows he is going to learn a lot from them.

“Napapanood ko na kasi sila before and I am really amazed at how they both are great in acting—mapa-intense man yung eksena or light lang. Kaya ako, excited ako to work with them kasi we are going to learn new things talaga,” the Kapuso heartthrob said.

What if, along the way, Benjie and Marione would soon develop feelings for each other? Can this be a start of something new?

With this, whose love story will push through? Will it be Lance and Ginny? Or will it be Marione and Benjie? Or will it be both?

Joining them in this series are Cai Cortez as Doc Issa, Ginny’s best friend; Archie Alemania as Maoy, Lance’s naughty friend; 34th PMPC Star Awards Movie Supporting Actress of the Year Ms. Odette Khan as Taneneng, Ginny’s mother-in-law; Jude Paolo Diangson as Gino, Ginny’s youngest child.

This newest Kapuso series is under the helm of Creative Director Caesar Cosme with Joseph Balboa as the Headwriter, directed by  Tata Betita and Jojo Nones.

Witness these feel-good and kilig love stories in “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw” beginning March 12 before Eat Bulaga on GMA.

Kapuso viewers from across the globe can also catch their favorite Kapuso shows via GMA’s international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV International. For the program guide, visit www.gmapinoytv.com.

Binibining Pilipinas 2018: National Costume Portrait

Binibining Pilipinas again showcased the ingenuity of Filipino Designers as the top 40 Binibinis they proudly paraded their National Costumes made by their chosen designers, this year it is the Mindanao-an and Tribal Costumes reigned supreme in the recently held National Costume Competition.

Just like last year I also got my own top 5 based on the look of the National Costume and the over all look of the Binibini plus the way she presented it in the fashion show; without further adeu here's my top 5 starting off with 1 as the highest:

1. #Binibini35 Sandra Lemonon/ #Binibini20 Catriona Gray:

A warrior and a princess this has to be the best description of the Natcos worn by Sandra and Catriona, these two really compliment each other every time I see them ever since I met the two years ago.

The over all look and presentation of these two gorgeous binibinis really did impressed me, from their stage presence, elegance, and beauty they both deserved to be on top.

Catriona's national costume is a Muslim princess inspired one with gold details, a veil, and a crown to complete that made the over all look of the costume very regal. Meanwhile Sandra's Natcos is inspired by a tribal warrior with gold details and a spear to complete the look.

Catriona's Natcos is made by Jearson Dimavivas, while Sandra's costume is made by Edwin Uy.

2. #Binibini11 Andrea Abesamis:

Aya's national costume is a fiery red with a golden sun rays head piece and fan, what I like about this is the trail that has those intricate design patterns that is very nice to look at. Chico Estiva made the Natcos of Aya

3. #Binibini8 Shane Tormes:

Shane's costume is a unique one in the competition, featuring butterfly sleeves on a warriors outfit plus the coconut and the bolo with bunch of sili as a head piece surely this is one of the beautifully crafted unique costume that night and it is made by Polly Lagyap.

4. #Binibini31 Jehza Huelar/ #Binibini39 Karen Gallman: Jehza and Karen wore the typical national costume that we always see in every pageant.  Karen Gallman's Traja De Mestiza is made by Louies Pangilinan, while Neil Patrick Jimlani for Jehza Huelar

Jehza wearing a Royal Blue colored Terno with tassels and a mindanao-on clothe at the center of the Terno. I just love how she gracefully and elegantly walked her way in the fashion show that she made her Terno stand out from the rest.

Karen on the other wears a green with gold accent Traje De Mestiza that made her drop dead gorgeous and so elegant, the intricate details adds elegance to the over all look of Karen that is very regal.
