#NCAA93 Day 21: San Beda and Lyceum Opens Second Round with back to back win.

The San Beda Red Lions kicks off the second round of elimination with a huge to 72-58 win over the College of Saint Benilde Blazers that improves their record to 9-1.

The Blazers had the better of the opening quarter after taking a 14-9 lead to open up the game, but that lead didn’t last long as the Red Lions roared back in the second period taking a huge 24-10 run to end the  first half 41-28.

In the second half San Beda continues to punish the sloppy Blazers to push their lead up 63-41 in the third period. In the final period the Red Lions slowed down as they only produced 9 points hence they still went on to take the win.

Robert Bolick again led the Red Lions with 14 points and 11 assists, but he was meted with a one game suspension after a mere scuffle with CSB’s Carlo Young that caused him to be thrown out of the game, erasing his chances in the MVP race.

Davon Potts added 12 points, while Javee Mocon had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Clement Leutcheu was the lone Blazer to score in double figures, 25 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lyceum Pirates was able to remain unbeaten after they sneaked past the hungry Mapua Cardinals in a tight 96-90 ball game.

Mapua was able to start the game strong after taking a 15-7 lead early in the game, but going to the next period Lyceum was able to take over the lead in the second period at 48-43 at the end of the first half.

The Pirates were able to pull away in the second half as they extend their lead at 59-45 and eventually finishing the third period with a 73-58 lead.

In the final period, Mapua started to make a run in the final two minutes of the game, but the 10-6 run in the final minute wasn’t enough for them to complete a comeback.

CJ Perez had 22 points, while Jaycee Marcelino added 19 points for Lyceum to go up to 10-0 in the league.

Leo Gabo had 21 points to lead the scoring for Mapua, Christian Bunag added a double double 18 points and 14 rebounds, Laurenz Victoria contributed 16 points.

Review: Love You To The Stars And Back

Love You To The Stars And Back

Director: Antoinette Jadaone

Starring: Joshua Garcia & Julia Barretto

Genre: Romance, Drama

Love you to the Stars and back tells the story of Mika and Caloy. Mika is a rebellious daughter as she still couldn’t accept the fact that her mom is already gone and that she has a new family, meanwhile Caloy who seems to be a fun loving person has an appalling situation as he hides something behind those smiles.

Mika and Caloy met by accident, but that accident will bring them to a ride that will change their lives and their perception about life.

What I love about this movie is its simplicity, there’s nothing special in the story, but the way the movie was made, the transition of every scene, and the story telling this movie became special.

I love how Direk Tonet crafted this movie, smooth yet there’s a heart and I believe it’s only her who can pull off a movie with only two or three lead characters only, but still the movie is very engaging to the audience, plus I love the road trip element in the movie I felt that I am with them travelling as well, this movie actually reminds me of Relaks It's Just Pagibig with a more mature take on life.

Having only two major characters, Julia and Joshua showed their best versions when it comes to acting in this movie. Joshua had the most difficult scenes in the movie, every breakout scene were really heavy and Joshua was able to deliver it, he was able to touch the audiences with his acting prowess, seriously he almost made me cry.

Julia on the other hand had her share of memorable scenes, though she didn’t have that much heavy scenes in the movie she was able to deliver an excellent job, she was able to portray a very free spirited and sometimes stubborn character of Mika.

Overall LYSB is Star Cinema’s best movie so far for me, the movie tells us that along our journey in life there are people who will come and join us to either teach us a lesson or changed our lives and that’s what I love about Direk Tonet’s story telling style from Relaks It’s Just Pag Ibig, That Thing Called Tadhana, and of course Love You To The Stars And Back.
