Emma Tiglao’s Grand Comeback: Chasing the Back-to-Back Crown at the Miss Grand International 2025

Emma is all set to conquer the grandest stage in pageantry! At her official send-off press conference organized by the ALV Pageant Circle last September 26, she radiated confidence and grace while showcasing her wit, beauty, and readiness before the members of the press.

During the send off, Emma expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her team, mentors, and supporters who have stood by her throughout her journey. She also shared how she has been preparing rigorously—not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally—to proudly represent the Philippines on the international stage.

Gunning for a back-to-back win at Miss Grand International is no easy feat, but Emma is more than 100% ready to rise to the challenge. She has been diligently preparing for the competition, even visiting Bangkok recently to personally show the Thai people her excitement and readiness for the journey ahead in Thailand next month.

Part of her meticulous preparation includes working hand-in-hand with her team to collaborate with top designers for her wardrobe during her month-long stay in Thailand. She also revealed that her much-anticipated national costume will be created by renowned designer Patrick Isorena. It's going to be another masterpiece that will proudly showcase the rich culture and heritage of her home province, Pampanga.

It has been six years since Emma last graced the international pageant stage, where she placed in the Top 20 at Miss Intercontinental in Egypt. When asked what motivated her to join again, she revealed that she wanted to live without regrets or unanswered “what ifs.” This time around, Emma steps into the competition armed with years of experience, personal growth, and the valuable lessons she has gained from her career as a newscaster and TV host, skills that have sharpened her confidence, eloquence, and stage presence.

Emma, who currently works as a news anchor and host for several programs on Net 25, shared that working in front of the camera has greatly honed her communication skills and boosted her confidence. These qualities, she believes, will serve her well as she takes on the challenge of competing for a coveted back-to-back title for the Philippines.

When asked about the challenges of being a news anchor versus being a beauty queen, Emma explained that both roles carry their own kind of pressure. As a newscaster, she shoulders the responsibility of delivering accurate, unbiased information to the public, a task that demands clarity, precision, and integrity. Meanwhile, as a beauty queen, she faces the equally daunting pressure of representing the country on the international stage. Carrying the flag and embodying national pride, she believes, is just as challenging as it appears.

Emma is set to fly to Thailand this Monday, September 29, as she embarks on her Miss Grand International journey. The competition officially kicks off on October 1 and will run until the much-awaited Grand Coronation Night on October 18 at the MGI Hall in Bangkok. We are definitely wishing Emma all the best she sets her sights on bringing home that historic back-to-back crown for the Philippines!

Darna, Karaoke, and Jolina?! Pop Culture Took Over Miss Grand Philippines 2025!

The Preliminary Competition of Miss Grand Philippines 2025 took a creative turn as it shined the spotlight on Pinoy Pop Culture Icons. Instead of the traditional national costume showcase, the MGPH organization broke away from the norm and paid homage to Philippine pop culture. The 29 official candidates wowed the audience in the Pop Culture Costume segment, bringing to life beloved symbols and figures that celebrate the country’s rich and colorful identity.

From the beloved Karaoke machine to the legendary Pinoy superheroes, we’ve rounded up our Favorite Pop Culture Costumes from this year’s Miss Grand Philippines 2025 competition!

5. Emma Tiglao's Golden Parol.

Designed by Patrick Isorena, Emma’s “Golden Parol” or Sinsing ning Aslag beautifully radiates the soul of Pampanga. A true beacon of the province’s heritage, the costume reflects Pampanga’s renowned artistry and craftsmanship, shining light on its timeless tradition of creativity.

4. Rizal Province's Kera Mitenna

Although it has only been a little over a month since Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre premiered on national television, its main antagonist Kera Mitena, played by Rhian Ramos, has already become a household name and one of the country’s newest pop culture icons. Inspired by her rising popularity, Bea Ocampo of Rizal took on the fierce persona, donning the character’s signature blonde hair and strutting as the Ice Queen in the competition. Her striking costume was designed by Roman Sebastian.

3. The Tale of the Two Mary Jean's.

One of the most popular beauty queens in Philippine pop culture is Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Universe Philippines 2014, who made history with her unforgettable—though infamous—national costume at the Miss Universe stage. That moment has since become iconic, and in this year’s Pop Culture Costume segment, Marga Britton of Bicolandia and Sophia Francine Barles of Bamban, Tarlac both paid tribute by showing up dressed like MJ Lastimosa in that national costume.

2. It's the Pinay Superheroes Turn!

Pop Culture isn't complete without the popular Pinay Superheroes who brought women empowerment to Filipinas during the time that men is dominating.

We start of this list with Shannon Tampon as Darna, No Philippine pop culture showcase would be complete without Darna, the country’s most iconic superheroine. With her red suit, golden helmet, and the legendary battle cry “Ding, ang bato!”, Darna remains a timeless symbol of strength, courage, and heroism—making her a favorite inspiration on the Miss Grand Philippines stage.

Next up is Babylyn Namo, who brought nostalgia and laughter to the stage as she transformed into Rufa Mae Quinto’s iconic superhero parody, Super B. With her campy charm, bold energy, and unforgettable one-liners, Super B has long been a cult favorite in Filipino pop culture — and Babylyn’s playful tribute captured that same over-the-top, comedic flair.

Michelle Arceo electrified the stage as she embodied the fabulous and fearless Zsa Zsa Zaturnah! With her dazzling costume and commanding presence, Michelle paid homage to the beloved comic book heroine known for her wit, sass, and unapologetic strength, a true LGBTQ+ pop culture icon who continues to inspire and empower and oh I am not forgetting the dance showdown with Nunoy

Mary Rose Grande channeled the warrior spirit of Danaya from Encantadia, captivating the stage with her fierce presence and striking costume. Bringing to life the iconic keeper of the earth gem, Mary Rose honored one of Philippine fantasy’s most beloved heroines a symbol of strength, loyalty, and courage that continues to resonate with fans today.

Closing the segment was Anita Rose Gomez, who charmed the audience as Super Inday. With her vibrant costume and lively portrayal, Anita paid tribute to the classic komiks heroine popularized on the big screen by Maricel Soriana in 1988, showcasing a character that embodies the lighthearted yet powerful spirit of Filipino pop culture.

Before we reveal our top pick, let’s put the spotlight on these queens who brought the ultimate Pinoy party essential to the stage — the karaoke! Shoutout to Alyssa Geronimo of Nueva Ecija, Carla Jane Torcido of Samar Island, and Rona Rabina of Tanay, Rizal for giving us a show-stopping tribute.

ISANG KITCHIE NADAL MEDLEY NAMAN D’YAN!

1. All Hail to the Queen of Pop Culture!

Philippine pop culture wouldn’t be complete without Jolina Magdangal, the ultimate Queen of Pop Culture. Paying tribute to her iconic influence is Manilyn De Guzman of Bataan who took the stage in her Pop Culture Costume inspired by a classic Jolina Magdangal notebook cover

Hindi ba SOBRANG JOLINA!
