Review: So Connected

So Connected

Starring: Janella Salvador, Jameson Blake

Director: Jason Paul Laxamana

Genre: Romance, Drama

So Connected tells the story of two strangers, Karter and Trisha who were connected by a lost phone and an app called "Store Box".

Karter is a budding graphic designer turned online show host, through her sister Karter discovered that there's an app on his phone that stores all the files from his lost phone, from there he meets the girl who got his phone, Trisha.

Trisha is a hard working lass who works as a waitress in a panciteria near the office of Karter, she always take photos of everything and anything she does day by day and all were uploaded to Karter's Store Box.

For every update Karter slowly falls in love with Trisha, but things gets complicated as the world online was far more different in the real world as both characters struggled to make things the way they want it to be just like in the cyberspace.

Will Karter and Trisha get so connected with love and acceptance? or will they be disconnected by fear of  rejection?

The story of the movie first and foremost is simple yet very engaging, relatable, and timely. I like how the movie raises the issue of cyberbullying, specially to those people who took videos or photos of other people and upload it online for that person to be bullied. I also liked how they presented the issue in such way that it tells the audiences that there's always a wider picture that we don't see behind those camera lenses, that not all videos that we see online is conclusive and we don't have the right to judge others just because they did something wrong on the video.

Direk JPL made the flow of the story smooth and easy to connect, the cinematography as well was really beautiful, the twists and revelations were all done masterfully. I also love the choice of  songs in the movie, chill and easy listening.

When it comes to the acting department, Janella Salvador really brought her acting prowess up as the character of Trisha was really far from the characters we used to see from Janella, she was deglamourized it was a different side of Janella that you will see, a bolder, more open, and a more "masa" Janella.

Jameson Blake on the other hand was undeniably charming, you can't resist the kilig that Jameson emits in every scene, acting wise this guy is one of the most versatile actors of this generation.

Jameson and Janella's team up might be new, but their chemistry on screen comes out naturally. They got this fresh and light attack on their love teams, their not the type that you will scream your lungs out of kilig instead they will leave you in awe on how effortless their kilig scenes were done.

Over all the movie was really good, from the production, to cinematography, the story, and even in the acting department, your Php250 and time will not be wasted, this is a good vibes type of movie that will teach you how to be responsible on what you post online.

Lastly, let's give Janella and Jameson's team up a chance, they both showed a different side of them in this movie and I guess supporting this is far more better than hating right?
