Review: Chances Are, You and I: Giving a chance on life.

Chances are, You and I is about two different people bound by fate in a their most vulnerable states. Kira Balinger plays the role of Gab, the optimist, she view life on a positive side, a ball of sunshine, she believes that everything will be okay even though life is falling apart from her. Meanwhile, Kelvin, the pessimist, he believes that every one will die eventually somehow and somewhere and they all got to deal with that.  

To start off this review, I must that the three years of waiting for this movie to premiere was worth the wait. Let's go with the characters played by Kira and Kelvin.

We begin with Kira Balinger, this is her first lead on the big screen and she was able to deliver the character with a strong and powerful performance, I just love how she was able to embrace her character here, it was definitely a heartfelt performance specially in that one particular scene in South Korea. 

For Kelvin Miranda, this guy never fail to amaze me with his performances. Kelvin always give his A-game every time he plays the role and you will definitely like the way he played his character in this movie as Sol, It felt so natural, I somehow feel like I am watching Kelvin as himself in this movie, that bad boy with a soft heart personality. 

As for their team up, I like their chemistry, it was effortless. Specially in their scenes in Korea the romance brewing felt so natural and that I think made their overseas journey somehow engaging and relatable to the viewers. 

I also like the character of Jin Ho Bae and Tart Carlos, they added fun and laughter to the story. 

Next to our list is the cinematography, it was on point and I love how they shot everything and made everything picture perfect for the story. 

The only setback of this movie is that I felt that there are lots of unnecessary scenes that made the movie a tad bit long. Although I love the conversation scenes I think they were too many and too long although I guess that's part of them establishing the story between the two characters and their connection, but I just hoped they limited it to a certain point that will not make the movie that too long. 

Last, I must say that the theme song of this movie fits perfectly! I really did not appreciate Juan Karlos' Demonyo single until I repeatedly heard it playing in this movie, it made every scene on point and perfect, I really had an LSS of that song thanks to this movie.

The good song choices really made a huge different for this movie, adding to Demonyo is SB19's MAPA that really gave heartfelt emotions to the scenes. 

Over all Chances are, You and I, was a good movie. It talks about love, destiny, forgiveness, and second chances in life, that no matter how difficult life is there's always something and someone that we can cling on to our dear life and will make us face every day with a positive view.

The search for the next Miss World Philippines is officially on!

Two years since their last pageant, the Miss World Philippines Organization is once again in search of a new queen that will be representing the country to the 72nd Miss World pageant happening early 2025. 

The MWPO has introduced the first 18 official candidates in their final screening held last Monday, May 27, at the Glass Ballroom of Okada Manila. Some notable names on the list are Miss World Philippines 2021 1st Princess Riana Pangindian, Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Hawaii Bianca Tapia and Cavite's Dia Mate, Reigning Miss Manila Gabriel Lantzer, Miss Cosmo World Philippines 2023 1st Runner Up Jasmine Omay, Bb Pilipinas 2023 Albay Jeanne Isabel Bilasano.

The rest of the official candidates will come from different accredited partners from different parts of the world, and they will all be introduced at the official press presentation this coming June 13.

Miss World Philippines 2024 grand coronation night will be on July 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena where a new queen will be crowned with a new crown by Ora China Jewelry.

The sequel to the highest grossing movie of 2019, Hello, Love, Goodbye is finally in the works as the biggest movie collaboration between ABSCBN Films Production's Star Cinema and GMA Picture for 2024!

Kathryn Bernardo is out to bring her "Best You Ever".

  

Kathryn Bernardo headlines the "Best You Ever" campaign for this year's Century Tuna Superbods. 

The 28-year-old New Generation Superstar led the 36 Superbod aspirants as they walk on the runway for the grand press presentation of this year's competition that was held last Tuesday, May 14, at Whitespace Makati. 

This is the first ever walk of Kathryn as the official brand ambassador of Century Tuna, "It feels so empowering to be part of this campaign" Kathryn said, "It has always been my dream to be part of this family, no joke, alam ng Century Tuna yan." she added. 

Kath shared that the brand approached her team January of this year and she got so excited. "For me finding the best version of yourself comes with transformation, so every day we try to be better, we try to be best, and I think that is just aligned with what Century Tuna represents, you know to be brave enough to challenge ourselves and to chase for our goals including our body goals." she said. 

"So when I said "Yes" to this even though meron lang akong very very limited time to prepare I knew that I was committed, I gave my 100% kahit sobrang limited lang yung time to prepare and I am glad that they are very supportive of me and parang Century Tuna gave me that extra motivation that I needed."

Kath shared that she has been consistently working out since she was 16 years old, despite her hectic schedule she still finds time to squeeze in her workout as she considers this as her "Me" time. 

To help her in achieving the best version of herself she got herself a fitness coach and a nutritionist to guide her.  For her work out Kath shared that she's been doing Pilates for her abs, Tennis for her cardio, a little bit of lifting for her to gain more muscles, and her fitness coach, Mauro Lumba introduced her to Functional Training that will help her body to improve the muscle growth, strength, power, mobility, core stability, and will also prevent injuries during workouts. 

"Yung lesson lang sa lahat ng ito siguro is just to be open to any workout and whatever works for you then you continue doing it, as for me I really enjoy doing it, so nagtuloy tuloy ako kay Mau kahit tapos na yung shoot namin." Kath said, "My next goal now of course is to be more fit specially for the finals sa July, so I have more time pa to prepare for that kasi I am still in the journey of being my best self, we'll get there." 

As for her diet, Kath shared that she's been taking in 1200 calories worth of food per day, she has also been taking in food that are high in protein. For her food is life and it does affect her mood if she's not eating good food.

Incorporating Century Tuna to her diet, Kath likes it sautéed with aromatics until it's a bit toasted, sometimes she puts egg on it best paired with brown rice or just biscuits. 

We'll be seeing more of Kathryn Bernardo and Century Tuna in the coming months, the finals night of the Century Tuna Superbods is happening on July 9.  

 

Opposites Attract in Kelvin Miranda and Kira Balinger's "Chances Are, You and I".

 

What are the chances that two different people will get hitched by fate? Kelvin Miranda and Kira Balinger play the role of Sol and Gab in the upcoming romantic-comedy-drama movie "Chances are, You and I", directed and produced by Catherine O. Camarillo. 

Sol or Soleil Sikat is played by Kelvin Miranda. A daredevil some might say since he already accepted his fate, having a terminal illness he is quite a pessimist and he is no longer scared of losing everything in a snap, but he then realizes that he still has no control over his life, and he should be the one taking control of it. 

On the other hand, is Gab or Gabrielle Sikat played by Kira Balinger. Contrary to that of Sol, Gab is an optimist, she looks to life with lots of positivity, she is a firm believer that everyone deserves to have a happy ending, she believes that to deal with pain is to accept it. 

Coming from the opposite side of life, Sol and Gab goes on an adventure of their life as they fly to South Korea to find the true meaning of their lives despite the situation, they are both in. 

The production of the movie began in 2021 and the filming began in 2022 and it was finally finished last year, "Chances are, You and I" is the brainchild of Director Catherine O. Camarillo's daughter Ellis Catrina. And it will be screened first at the Jinseo Arigato International Film Festival in Japan this coming May 25-26. 

The movie also stars Tart Carlos, Jin Ho Bae, Anna Feleo, Gian Magdangal, and Al Tantay. 

"Chances are, You and I" is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas this coming May 29, produced by Pocket Media Production Inc. in partnership with Happy Infinite Productions Inc. and Pocket Media Films, distributed by Regal Entertainment Inc.

Jupheter Franco is Man of the Philippines 2024

 

Jupheter Franco of General Santos City was named as this year's Man of the Philippines. 

Unlike other pageants, the Man of the Philippines 2024 opted for a different approach for their pageant, they made it as a reality show pageant that was streamed online via YouTube. The pageant-reality show has 12 episodes that features different challenges that includes swimwear, formal wear, and national costume, this also includes the coronation night which was aired last May 1 wherein Jupheter Franco was declared as the winner. 

The 27-year-old model and banker bested 16 other candidates in the competition.

Other winners are Rhenzwhin Corpuz of Ilocos Sur who was named as Man of the Philippines Nationalism, Man of the Philippines Advocacy went to Sharuen Hafeel of Ceby City, while another Cebuano, Jhun Lloyd Villlagracia of Lapu-Lapu City was crowned as Man of the Philippines Integrity. 

Over 40 Candidates Vie for Mister International Philippines 2024.

 

Mister International Philippines fever is officially on! One of the country's top male pageant the MIPH organization has officially introduced the official candidates for this year's competition. 

A mixture of pageant veterans and pageant newbies heats up the already hot afternoon as they welcome the members of the media in a press presentation held last April 28 in a hotel in Roxas Boulevard. 

Among the forty plus delegates from all over the Philippines, early stand outs were Cebu City's Ralph Jude Dinolan, Paranaque City's Jade Dalogdog, Bulacan's Matt Gregorio, Leyte's Jake Batiancela who is a medical doctor by profession, and Pampanga's Lawrence Regala. 

The Grand Coronation of Mister International Philippines 2024 is happening on June 30 in the province of Batangas.
