It's definitely a fruitful start for 2024 for Teejay Marquez. After the success of his first entry in the recently concluded 49th Metro Manila Film Festival, the influx of project hasn't stop for Teejay.
The success of the hit afternoon prime series "Makiling" where he played one of the crazy five is making waves across the country and Teejay has been very in demand to different town shows by the Kapuso network.
This February, Teejay is all set for a new role as he co stars with Beauty Gonzales and Kelvin Miranda in the movie "After All".
Teejay plays the role of Joey, Yna's only son (Yna is played by Beauty Gonzales). She was a very devoted mother to his son, until Joey gets involved in a scandal with another guy that was posted by his ex-girlfriend Miles (Devon Seron). This incident turned their lives around specially for Joey who fell into deep depression and became inconsolable.
Through Joey, Yna will come across to who could've been the rebirth of his childhood sweetheart Joselito in the character of Joseph (Kelvin Miranda), but a sudden twist of event will put the three of them in a dire situation that will trap Yna out, will she choose her could be great love Joseph or will she choose his son Joey?
After All is directed by Adolf Alix Jr., produced by ALV Films and Entertainment, the movie also stars Devon Seron, Dindi Pajares, Riana Pangindian, Katrina Llegado, Kiko Ipapo, and Juan Carlos Galano. In cinemas February 28.
1. How does it feel of getting roles that are out of the box?
"It feels good because medyo dumating din sa point na natattype cast ko na yung sarili ko na every time na may character na hinahanap parang "ah wag si Teejay kasi pa cute lang yan, ah si Teejay ngingiti lang yan eh, pacute ganito ganyan" so parang for me yun nabigyan ako bigla ng ganitong kontrabida, ganitong gay role, parang sabi ko ah atleast naeexplore ko yung mga ibang acting chops ko at nakikita ko na kaya ko palang gawin.
So I'm very happy na binibigyan ako ng ganitong genre or character na pwede kong paglaruan."
2. For you what's easier, playing the good guy or portraying the bad one?
"Ah siguro mas madali maging kontrabida, kasi parang sa akin di naman dahil gusto kong mapanakit kasi parang ibinibigay mo lang yung conflict dun sa kaeksena mo like dun sa bida, pero yung bida kasi ang dami nyang pinagdadaanan, iiyak ka ng iiyak, pero walang problema gusto ko din maging bida, but as of now nageenjoy ako sa pagiging kontrabida ko.
"Nasa fever ako ng Ben x Jim noon eh, so nung binigay sa akin yun hindi ako masyadong naka relate dahil meron akong same experience kay Joey, but nakarelate ako because masyado na kong nakumportable dun sa pag ganap ko kay ben, so for me mabilis lang ako sumegway kay Joey dito sa After All.
Ang tinignan ko na lang dun is what if nangyare sa akin to with my dad, isa yung gusto naming babae na liligawan, nagaway kami, so yun yung inisip ko that's why meron akong hugot at tsaka siguro nung mga panahon na yun syempre nasasaktan ka, ginamit ko lahat ng mga heart broken experience ko, tsaka kaeksena ko si Beauty (Gonzales) kaya kailangan itodo ko yung mga malalalim na feelings."
4. How would you define love?
"Love is love, kahit gaano mo pa yan takasan, kahit mawala man sayo yan minsan, hindi man magsurvive, love is there, makakahanap at makakahanap ka ng para sayo, wait ka lang.
