#UAAP82 Day 1: FEU drops opening game against Fighting Maroons
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws failed to mount a comeback in their opening game day match against last year's runners up UP Fighting Maroons as they let them sneaked past with a 61-55 win.
Despite being the underdogs in their match up as the Tamaraws were able to keep the opening period close, with UP leading by a small margin to end it at 20-17, but moving on to the second period the Fighting with Javi Gomez de Liano started a scoring romp to pull away at the end of the first half 38-27.
Moving to the second half, FEU started to heat things up as they take a 17-9 run in the third period to cut the deficit to three, at 47-44. The Tamaraws kept charging in the final period, tying the game at 55 with just a few minutes left in the game, but crucial turnovers struck the Tamaraws as their comeback was foiled by UP.
It was a low scoring ball game for the Tamaraws with Brandrey Bienes top scoring with just 9 points, LJ Gonzales, Patrick Tchuente, and Wendell Comboy all had 8 points, while Kenneth Tuffin and Xyrus Torres both added 6 points.
Javi Gomez de Liano led the Maroons in this game with 22 points.
