The Far Eastern University overcomes the hump and bump of having a sloppy start after they successfully defeated the Ateneo Blue Eagles 63-60 to end the first round of season 81 with a 5-2 record.
The Tamaraws started the game cold, struggling at 11-19, the Blue Eagles continues to punish them in the second period as they continue to extend their lead up 32-22.
But going to the second half the Tamaraws charged hard after they limit Ateneo down to just 7 points in the third period to turn things around after tying the game 39-all. In the final period the defense of the Tamaraws made difference as they take over the lead and keep the Blue Eagles away in the final tick of the clock.
Hubert Cani made Ateneo pay as he led the Tamaraws with 12 points, Jasper Parker and Axel Inigo both added 9 points.
Kakou Kouame was the lone Blue shirt to score in double digit with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Bright Akhuetie had 18 points and 11 rebounds for UP , Javi Gomez De Liano added 12 points, and Diego Dario contributing 10 points for the Maroons.
