The University of the Philippines crushed the University of the East in the opening game of the season after the former dominated the latter 87-58.
Juan Gomez De Liano led the onlaught of the Maroons with 16 points, Bright Akhuetie added 15 points and 18 rebounds in his debut game, Jun Manzano had 13 points, Paul Desiderio added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Javi Gomez De Liano wrapped up the scoring machines of UP with 10 points.
Alvin Pasaol was the lone Red Warrior to score in double digits with 14 points.
