FDCP supports Filipino Films at the International Film Festival Rotterdam

Five (5) Filipino films are featured this year at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in Netherlands happening from January 24 to February 4, 2018

Eager to encourage platforms that further showcase Philippine cinema around the world, the Film Development Council of the Philippines lent its support to the filmmakers of Nervous Translation, Respeto, Mga Gabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko, Neomanila, and Dapol Tan Payawar na Tayug 1931 (The Ashes and Ghosts of Tayug 1931) through the International Film Festival Assistance Program (IFFAP).

“We are always proud of our films when they represent us in international film festivals. This time, it is really incredible that Rotterdam, in its continued efforts to highlight the emerging talents and voices of the world, has prominently included Filipino films,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Dino. "We are glad that we could be of assistance to our filmmakers this year competing in this prestigious Festival," she added.

FDCP's IFFAP is an opportunity for filmmakers featured in international festivals to be granted assistance through airfare, stipends, or endorsements. More details of the program will be revealed as FDCP unveils its programs for 2018.

Of the five films in the Filipino lineup, Nervous Translation by Shireen Seno is featured in the Hivos Tiger Competition and Respeto by Treb Monteras is under the Bright Future Competition. Mga Kabing Kasinghaba ng Hair Ko, Neomanila, and The Ashes and Ghosts of Tayug 1931 on the other hand fall under Voices, Rotterdammerung, and A History of Shadows categories respectively.

Screenings of the films in Rotterdam are ongoing until February 3.
