Weeks after the controversial loss of Miss Philippines Catriona Gray at the Miss World 2016 held at the United States where Miss Puerto Rico emerged as the winner of the blue crown, Miss World-Philippines franchise holder Cory Quirino of CQ Global Quest announced today that she is relinquishing the franchise of the said pageant for personal and business reasons.
Just a refresher, Miss World-Philippines under the 6 year management of Cory Quirino became very successful they even produced Megan Young as the first ever filipina to win Miss World in 2013, Gwendolyn Ruais was the first candidate from CQ Global Quest back in 2011 and she almost bagged the crown after finishing as 1st princess.
Queenierich Rehman finished in the Top 15 and she made noise because of her beatboxing talent, Valerie Weignmann finished in the Top 25, Hillarie Parungao finishes in the Top 10 and was able to bag the Multimedia Award same as Catriona Gray who was very controversial as she was left unplaced during the coronation night though she was awarded as 3rd Princess at the after party event.
The Miss World-Philippines franchise was first owned by the Miss Republic of the Philippines from 1969-1976 where Evangeline pascual finished as 1st runner up, after that the franchise went to Mutya ng Pilipinas from 1977- 1991, then Binibining Pilipinas takes the title from 1992-2010 where Ruffa Gutierrez finished as 2nd princess and Karla Bautista finishes in the top 5.
Update:
Arnold Vegafria of ALV Talent Circuit is the new franchise holder of the Miss World-Philippines and Mr World Philippines.
