Far Eastern University escaped past the National U Bulldogs after a thrilling 57-56 match. The Tamaraws started slow in the opening game, giving NU the chance to take an 11-0 start, but FEU was able to climb up as the opening quarter progresses to tie the game at 19.
In the second period the Bulldogs continue to control the pace of the game as they retake the lead 32-30 to end the first half. Entering the third period, the Bulldogs were able to bring back their 11 point lead, 44-33. NU continues to keep the Tamaraws at bay even though the latter was able to trim the lead down to 5, 45-50 at the end of the third.
Going in the final ten minutes of the game, FEU's Monbert Arong and Inno Comboy started a run for the Tamaraws for them to take over the lead at 55-52 with 6 minutes left in the game, but NU just don't want to go down easily as Rev Diputado and Alfred Aroga were able to tie the game at 55.
Joshua Sinclair almost gave NU the win after splitting the charities at 56-55 with 46.5 seconds, but Monbert Arong's clutch play gave FEU the lead at 57-56 with 3.7 seconds left.
The Tamaraws were able to complete a comeback after a lackluster fourth quarter performance of NU producing 6 points in the fourth
Raymar Jose had another double-double performance to lead FEU, having 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Monbert Arong added 13 points, including that game winning shot to put the Tamaraws on solo second with 6-2 record.
Alfred Aroga's huge 22 points and 13 rebound output didn't materialize as NU drops to 4-4 to start the second round.

The De La Salle Green Archers survived the challenge of the Adamson Falcons after they emerge victorious again on their second meeting that ended at 86-79 to remain the only undefeated team in the tournament.
The Green Archers weren't able to start off the game strong like they always does every game, as Adamson were able to get on top first in the opening period at 19-17. But moving to the second period La Salle exploded as they shoot down the Falcons after a 27-14 run to end the first half with a 44-33 lead.
In the second half, Adamson tried play catch up as they chase down the lead of the Green Archers, but still they weren't able to cut the lead of La Salle down to end the third still down 55-66.
Going to the final period the Falcons posted a serious threat against La Salle as they trimmed the deficit down to 79-81 with less than 2 minutes left in the game, but Kib Montalbo was able to shoot a dagger three to put a little cushion and to ice the blazing run of the Falcons to prevent them to complete a comeback.
Ben Mbala contnues to be the anchor of La Salle's offense and defense, providing 18 points and 10 rebounds, Rookies Ricci Rivero and Aljun Melecio continues to prove that they are the best players from their juniors league as they combined 25 points for the Green Archers.
On the other side another power rookie showed his prowess in Jerrick Ahanmisi, leading Adamson in losing efforts with 27 points, Pape Sarr and Sean Manganti combined 25 points.
