#NCAA92 Juniors Finals: Red Robins Take Finals Game 1
The Malayan Red Robins stunned the defending champions San Beda Red Cubs after a dominant 83-64 game, drawing the first blood in the best of three finals of the 92nd season of the NCAA held at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Malayan started the game strong, taking a 10-4 lead early in the opening period though San Beda was able to finish the first period with down by just a single point 11-12. In the second period both squads were able to keep the game close, with the Red Lions taking a slim 33-31 advantage going to the second half.
The Red Robins started to make a scoring romp in the third period, erasing the lead of the Red Cubs and establishing a 61-55 lead going to the final period. Malayan kicks off the final ten minutes of the game with a blazing 12-2 run extending their lead up 75-60.
The Red Cubs started to get sloppy in their offense and defense as time fades away, producing only 9 points in the final period against the 22 points of Malayan.
Jasper Salenga led the Red Robins in their first win against San Beda this season, having 17 points. Romuel Junsay added 15 points, while Bryan Samudio added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Clint Escamis with 12 points as well.
The Red Cubs looked like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed as only two players manage to score in double figures they are Joshua Tagala with 11 points and Germy Mahinay with 10 points.
