#UAAPLXXIX Day 7: La Salle Remains Undefeated, FEU Trounce Gritty Red Warriors


The De La Salle Green Archers overcome the threat of the NU Bulldogs 75-66. The battle of the two undefeated team began with a tight start oathe opening period with the favorites Gree Archers taking a slim 17-16 lead in the first period. 

The NU Bulldogs started the second period aggressive as they were able to tie the game at 37 to end the first half. In the third period, NU continues to keep La Salle at bay extending their lead up 52-43, though the Green Archers were able to trim the deficit down 52-54 at the end of the third. 

Going to the final period the La Salle started to stage a huge comeback as they were able to erase the lead of the Bulldogs and started to run away in the final quarter taking a 60-57 lead midway of the final quarter at that point the Green Archers never looked back to dodge the upset ax of the Bulldogs.

Jeron Teng poured in 23 points to lead the comeback of the Green Archers, helping him is Ben Mbala with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Meanwhile former DLSU stalwart Matt Salem and JJay Alejandro led the Bulldogs in losing efforts with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Eager to make a comeback the Far Eastern University Tamaraws trounce the gritty UE Red Warriors in a heated 67-59 game that equalize their record to 2-2, sending the Red Warriors still win less after three games.

The Tamaraws were able to start the game strong taking an early 19-15 lead in the opening quarter that pave the way for them to dictate the pace of the game. The lead ballooned to a 10 point deficit in the second period as UE struggled to keep their shooting at par with the Tamaraws, as they ended the first half 42-32.

FEU slows down entering the third period as the Red Warriors became more aggressive, though the Tamaraws were able to endure the threats of UE as they were able to end the third with a sizable 55-46 lead.

In the fourth period the Red Warriors continues to threaten the lead of FEU as they get more physical forcing FEU to commit vital turn overs to give UE the chance to cut the deficit down 59-62, but the Red Warriors had their share of defensive lapse that causes their comeback to fall short.

Monbert Arong led the offense of the Tamaraws producing a season high 16 points, Raymar Jose on the other hand led FEU in defense producing a career high 22 rebounds and 11 points, Axel Inigo added 12 points. Meanwhile, Mark Olayon was the only Red Warriors to score in double figures with 12 points.
