#NCAA92 Juniors: 8/1/16
The Arellano Braves scored a huge victory after outlasting the San Beda Red Cubs in a down the wire battle that ended 93-90. Tit for tat was the story of the game between the top two teams in the tournament having 21 lead changes, 11 deadlocks, and ending the first two tied at 19-all and 39-all.
This could be the preview to the Finals in the juniors division as it is the closest battle in the tournament so far, pushing the limits of both squad specially in the second half were it became an everybody's ball game with San Beda taking a little cushion ending the third period 67-64.
Going to the final period, the game intensified as the Braves tried to pull away taking the lead 70-67, though San Beda were quick to recover retaking the lead 83-80 with less than 3 minutes left in the game, but Arellano were able to take the lead again 88-87, but Addie Velasquez banked in a three to take a 90-88 lead entering the last minute mark.
But Guilmer Dela Torre were able to make an and 1 play to give Arellano a 91-90 lead with 22 seconds left, Sam Abuhijleh tried to tie the game, but he was denied by Carlo Abadeza with 5 seconds left in the game.
Guilmer Dela Torre had another remarkable performance as he led the Braves to 8-0 having 28 points, Lars Sunga added 16 points 9 rebounds, Aaron Fermin had 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Carlo Abadeza scored 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Red Cubs team captain Sam Abuhijleh led his team with 15 points and 10 rebounds, Germy Mahinay contributed 15 points, Carlo Obenza added 11, Prince Etrata tallied 11 points, Joshua Tagala scored 10 for San Beda as they got their first loss after 8 games.

The Lyceum Junior Pirates were able to outlast the Perpetual Help Junior Altas 117-93 after a third quarter storm by the Junior Pirates to extend their winning streak. Though it was a close first half between the two squads ending the first period tied at 28-all and with the Junior Altas taking a slim 57-55 lead at the end of the second period.
Going to the third period the Junior Pirates started to pull away early in the quarter leaving the Junior Altas with only 12 points against their 28 points to end the third 83-69. The Junior Pirates became unstoppable as they barged in to the last 10 minutes of the game leaving the Junior Altas behind a 34-24 output in the final period to take the victory.
Junjun Cecilio top scored for the Junior Pirates with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Mclaude Guadana followed with 15 points and 5 rebounds, while Makki Santos had a double-double 13 points and 11 rebounds. Lyceum evens their win-loss record at 4-4.
On the side of the perps Jielo Razon led his team with 22 points and 11 rebounds, Errol Bongay added 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Justine Desquitado scored 11 points. The Junior Altas also evened their win-loss record at 4-4.

It was another down the wire match at the end of the game day Monday between the San Sebastian Staglets and EAC Brigadiers that ended 87-71 in favor of the Brigadiers.
Though it was a seesaw battle it was a tight contest with San Sebastian taking the first quarter 23-22 and EAC tying the game at 38-all at the end of the first half. In the third period EAC struggles to keep up with the Stags as they go down 59-66 at the end of the third period, In the final period the Generals looked like they ran out of gas as they only scored 12 points against the 21 of the Stags.
Kenneth Villapondo led the Stags with a huge double-double performance of 14 points and 17 rebounds, Bryan Pelias also scored 14 points, while Kobe Canoy scored 12 points and 8 assists, Wendell Binarao, Jerico Isidro, and Jovanie Cortes all scored 10 points for San Sebastian as they finally take their first win after 8 games.
Angelo Beduria and C Jay Boado led the Generals with 14 and 12 points respectively, EAC remains the only win less team in the tournament after 8 games.
