#UAAP78 Day 17: La Salle Bounces Back, FEU Takes Solo Lead.



The De La Salle Green Archers beats the UE Red Warriors 72-64 to bounce back after losing their match last Sunday against UST.

La Salle opens the game with a 19-16 advantage against the Red Warriors at the end of the opening period. In the second period La Salle's Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres led the run of the Green Archers to take a 41-30 lead at the end of the first half.

Entering the second half, UE became more aggressive as they were able to get close to the Green Archers to end the third period down by only 5 points 50-55. Entering the final period the Red Warriors had the chance to tie the game at least, but La Salle again uses a 7-0 run to take a more comfortable lead 71-58 with only a few ticks left in the game.

Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres led the Green Archers in this game scoring combined 35 points in this game, meanwhile Chris Javier and Emil Palma combined 28 points for the Red Warriors.

Far Eastern University takes the top spot again after defeating the University of the Philippines 68-57 in the main match of the Mid Week Match of the 78th season of the UAAP at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Tamaraws opens the game with a three coming from Roger Pogoy, though FEU began the game on a high note still the Fighting Maroons took a 19-17 edge over the Tamaraws at the end of the first period. In the second period the aggressiveness of the Tamaraws were able to put them back on top 33-28 to end the first half.

Second Half was some how a slow one for both squad, though UP were able to outscore the Tamaraws in the third period to keep the game close at 43-40. In the final period, FEU started to pull away using a run to take a 63-48 lead with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.

Roger Pogoy took charge for the offense of the Tamaraws in this game producing 17 points, but it was the last quarter heroics of Mac Belo that helped the Tamaraws pull away in the fourth period scoring 9 of his 12 points in the final 10 minutes of the game, adding to that is Mike Tolomia's 11 points. On the side of UP, Diego Dario led the Maroons with 16 points.
