#UAAP78 Day 12: Ateneo Gets Solo 3 Third, UST Grabs A Share Of The Top Spot


In the Wednesday game day of the 78th season of the UAAP at the Mall of Asia Arena, the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles sends the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons to their fourth straight loss after defeating them 56-43.

The Blue Eagles started strong even the game was a low scoring ball game edging UP 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, in the second quarter Ateneo manages to pull away as the fighting Maroons struggles to find their rhythm in the court as they were only able to score 8 points in the second to end the quarter 36-17.

Entering the second half the game slow down for Ateneo producing only 9 points in the third quarter letting the Fighting Maroons trimmed the lead down to 45-31 at the end of the third, though the Blue Eagles wasn't that aggressive anymore in the game UP failed to capitalized that falling to their fourth straight loss after starting the season at 2-0.

Kiefer Ravena and Von Pessumal scored 11 points for Ateneo in winning this game. Meanwhile, Paul Desiderio score 12 points for the State U, he was the lone player that scored in double digit for UP.

In the second game UST's second half run save them again to outlast La Salle in the second game  77-61.

La Salle started the game with an 18-12 advantage at the end of the first period, though in the second quarter UST starts to get hot in their shooting to closed in, but still La Salle were able to control and take the lead at the end of the first half 33-31.

Entering the second half UST's three point shooting gave problems to La Salle as slowly the Tigers pulled away to end the third period with a huge 60-46 lead, in the final quarter La salle tried to make a comeback but UST's backcourt defense was just way too unstoppable.

Kevin Ferrer led the way for UST in this game scoring 17 points for the Tigers, while on the other side it was Jeron Teng who top scored for La Salle with 13 points.
