Nokia 8: The Launch, The Hands On, and The Initial Impression

Months after it was release the first flagship device of Nokia under HMD Global is finally launched here in the Philippines.

The Nokia 8 boasts a well-crafted premium device made with an all aluminum unibody design that has the feel and look at par with today's smartphone flagship devices, it features a 5.3 Quad HD IPS Display that features a crisp and a high definition resolution that will give the user the best viewing experience on a mobile phone. The screen is protected by a corning gorilla glass 5 and it the phone is an IP54 certified making it splash and dust resistant, the glance screen and double tap to wake feature that we saw in the Lumia devices are also making a comeback.

Speaking of comeback, the Nokia 8 features the comeback of Zeiss optics to the Nokia phones as the 8 features three 13 megapixel Zeiss camera, one placed in front of the phone that will give a supreme selfie experience and the two were placed at the back to give user a premium camera experience.

The Dual Camera at the back features two different Zeiss lens, the first one is an RGB camera and the other one is a black and white lens, unlike other dual lens camera phone you see in the market today that features a wide lens on the other camera the trick in the 8 is that you can use the camera to enhance and deepen the shots taken when you use the dual mode.

Another feature that Nokia emphasizes in the Nokia 8 is the #Bothie capability that will let you capture yourself via the selfie camera and your subject through the dual camera at the back that will appear as a split screen on the phone. You can also use it to stream on Facebook and Youtube that makes it perfectly suitable for vloggers and bloggers for interview, just a tip you should use it with a tripod on coz I myself struggled not to make my face occupy the whole screen in front.

Another special feature of the Nokia 8 is the Nokia Özo Audio that records high quality audio that gives the video recorded a 360 degrees special sound that is also best doing interviews or just video recording.

Over all the look, specs, and the feel of the device is really top notch, I love how well and how beautiful the Nokia 8 was crafted the user experience is really smooth thanks to the Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, stock android 7.1.1 that made the whole user experience flawless.

The Nokia 8 will only come in polished blue and steel here in the Philippines with an SRP of Php 29,990. The retail unit comes with a sim ejector, fast charger, usb cable, and in-ear headset plus the manuals of course, the phone is now out in your favorite gadget stores starting this weekend.
